Luckily all I had left to do for work on set that day could be done without the guys. All I had to was meet Sacha and I could stand aside and work on some of the characters as I had to just perfect what I've already seen. It was kinda like a free day. Most importantly, a Charlie free day. I tried to be logical about it but the way he had the nerve to just walk around with her like that. I stopped my mind from wandering. This is exactly the person I didn't want to become, and that's what I resented the most about this whole thing.
I decided to text Kenny and tell him that I would do my work away from set so I could have a clear mind and went on to wander around the city. I heard great things about Stanley Park, so I drove there and found a seat.
"I'm really glad we have each other's find my friends" I heard a voice walking up to me and taking a seat "If I didn't know any better I would've said you were ignoring me"
"I'm sorry I just wanted to be alone, away from all things Charlie" I replied.
"You know you are just hurting yourself. We all know you have feelings for him, and you say you are not ready but this feels like you are just scared to get hurt Eri"
I felt that same angry feeling I felt earlier, my chest felt 212 degrees (100 celsius for the elites).
"Maeve, I get that you have to jump for the first dude that gives you any attention but not all of us are like that. I said I don't want to and that means I don't and that's it"
"Ok, I get it" she said, standing up "I guess I'll see you tonight"
She didn't give me anytime to say anything more and walked away. I saw her shoulders shiver, and she looked like she wiped a tear. I was upset that I hurt her, of course, she is my best friend, but she had no business saying those things to me. I was being smart, taking care of myself. If I wanted time away from Charlie I deserved it, that didn't mean I would be pining over him my whole life.
The hours passed by and I sat there, ignoring all the calls and texts from the group chat Tori created for the party. I finally brought my self to read them.
The last one read:
"So it's settled, me and the girls will meet at my place around 9 and you boys can come around 11" That was the first time I looked at the time in 5 hours, it was 8:30, time really flew by in this place. I got into my car and drove to pick Savannah up, that left me 100 voicemails telling me that she needed a ride. The thought of seeing everyone was daunting, so I thought that maybe I would drop her off and excuse myself. I had to think about something first.
I arrived at our place and Savannah came out carrying two big bags and heels in her hands.
"I couldn't make this fit inside the bag" she said as she got in "I brought you some clothes and your makeup because I figured you wouldn't have time. There's at least 7 outfits in here." I smiled at her and couldn't believe I got this lucky with this people. And how I was on my way to ruining everything if I kept this attitude up.
As I parked I turned to Savannah to tell her I wasn't going to the party after all but someone knocked on my car window, it was Carolynn, holding another big ass bag.
"Hey!" I said, rolling down my windows "I see you also came prepared"
"That's so vintage" she said, looking down inside my car, "and yes I am always prepared, now come out, tonight we forget our sorrows" I couldn't say anything before she opened the car's door and dragged me out of it. I let it happen. Maybe I could get some alone time with Maeve to talk about what happened in the park and then ditch while everyone was distracted and having fun. And being with the girls was always a blast anyways.
When I went through the doors I couldn't believe what I saw. Music was playing from the back of the house. The entrance had a long corridor that led to a beautiful living room that had big sofas and a fireplace. Next to the living room were some glass doors that led to a huge garden where Tori was giving a performance on what it looked like one of those wooden portable outdoor dance floors. Carolynn ran to her and they finished the choreography together. We all clapped when they were done.
"That was beautiful girls" Sav said, as she walked around hugging everyone to say hello.
"It was indeed" I said, looking around "What is this place? and, how big is this party anyway?" I continued, standing still in awe at the size of the house.
"Someone didn't read the group chat" Mads said, "This is Tori's place. She has a distant cousin that lives here or something, and he went out for business, so he lent her the place. As for the size of the party, is big. Every extra and dancer is invited."
"Awesome" I said, but I was still looking around, but now for Maeve, that was nowhere to be seen "Guys, is Maeve coming?"
"Again girl, group chat" Jadah replied to me. I took my phone out and scrolled through the millions of texts they sent.
"I'm taking Maeve out for dinner and then Charlie, her and I will all go together" Great, is her second to last night, and she prefers spending it with Owen and Charlie.
Me and the girls had dinner and got ready for the party. Some people started to appear around 11 and at 11:45 Owen, Charlie and Maeve walked through the door. I tried to get to them but a sea of people were standing between us so I thought I would catch them later. As I made my way to the bar I saw her again, that blonde girl that just wouldn't leave me alone. She was talking to Jadah and Mads when Mads spotted me staring at them. She walked up to me and asked me to dance with her.
"I just can't do this Mads, I thought I did but I can't, I'm going home. Please tell Maeve to call me if you see her." Maddie tried to get me to stay but my mind was made up. As I made my way to the door I bumped into a muscular arm and dropped the drink it was holding.
"Oh my god I'm so sorry I wasn't looking let me get you something to clean you up" I said, looking down at the big stain I left on his white shirt. I looked up and saw him staring down at me, his eyes were indecipherable.
"I'm sorry again" I said, and my face turned to stone. I tried to keep walking, but he grabbed me by my arm.
"Eri stop we can't keep doing this" he said, as I struggled to let go off him. He put his arm off and stared at me again.
"Do what? And don't worry, we won't do anything with each other ever again" I replied, trying to walk away
"You are being so fucking bratty Eri" he said, putting his right hand behind his neck, frustrated.
"What did you just say to me?" I said, turning to him again. In the corner of my eye I saw Maeve hugging Owen, the both of them looking at me and Charlie.
"I'm sorry but you are. What is this all about? You don't get to just be mad at me because I tried to move on from you. You go around saying you are honest about your feelings but you are lying to everyone, yourself included. I'm so tired of this bullshit Eri. I'm not the bad guy here"
"I sang you a song, I humiliated myself for you and you sat there laughing with little Mrs. perfect. Not a text, not a call. I thought we were trying to stay friends"
"You didn't deserve a text or a call. You were the one that lied. And friends? You kept playing all those games with me even after you said you weren't doing that anymore. You are not the one that gets to be mad here. The things you said to Maeve, that's not you Eri. You are scared of getting hurt I get it but you hurt me in the process. I was about to come here and tell you that we should talk but I can now see that there's no use"
"I'm not scared of getting hurt, I decided I wasn't going to let you do it. I did the best I could with what was handed to me. Who are you to act all good and mighty? You knew how I felt too."
"I wanted to win you over. But you are not worth the effort" he replied, and I felt something inside me die. My whole body felt déjà vu.
"Screw you Gillespie" I said, turning around and finally walking through the door.
