Chapter 20

I decided to not let it get to me and I put my phone down. It was a text from the infamous Matthew asking for a meeting "Business, not pleasure" he prefaced it.

Maeve looked at me with a puzzled face and I just shrugged my shoulders.

"I felt your pulse rising, like scarily. Is everything ok?" she queried.

"It's nothing important, don't worry" I said, and decided to believe it myself.

"I can't believe we drank that much yesterday, today we film two performance scenes, what were we thinking?" She said, standing up and walking to the bathroom.

"You can just stay in the trailer if you want" I said, following her in.

"Owen really wants me there" she replied "I've yet to see him perform"

"You two are so sweet" I said, and daydreamed of a world where I didn't fuck up so badly and me and Charlie had exactly that.

"I know what you are thinking" she said looking at me "And I think there's still hope"

"He's literally in love with someone else Maeve" I said, and then looked up her with my eyebrows frowned "That was creepy Maeve, how did you even know?"

"I just know you too well. And you had the daydreaming about Charlie smile." She replied "Owen calls Charlie's the dumb Eri smile"

"Shove off" I said, but I couldn't stop myself from smiling.

"I'm just saying Lilly gives off a terrible vibe" she continued, through a mouthful of toothpaste foam.

We got ready and drove to set where I met the writers and the cast. I sat down and saw someone walk up to me in the corner of my eye. She sat down next to me and turner her head to me.

"Hi! I'm Lilly" she said, extending her hand to me with a big grin on her face"We haven't properly met yet"

"Oh uhm Hi! Yes I know who you're! I'm Eri" I said, grabbing her hand and shaking it firmly.

She giggled a little and said "I know who you are too", we smiled at each other for a second and then Charlie came behind her and grabbed her by the waist and kissed her neck lightly. I could feel the smile erasing from my face as I put my head down.

"Well I guess you two are meeting at last" he said, and awkwardly smiled at me.

"Maeve wouldn't shut up about how beautiful and amazing you were, so I had to see it for myself". Oh, Maeve! what did I ever do to deserve you, I thought as I looked back at them and recovered my smile.

"But we had met each other before tho" she continued, "In the karaoke bar"

"Right, you saw her perform" Charlie said, and opened his eyes wide at me. And then all the memories from the night came flooding back. God, I literally told her I was singing to her boyfriend.

"We met before that, Charlie" she said with a stone-cold face, as if she could read my mind "In the bathroom"

I tried to play it dumb as she stared right into my eyes. Charlie couldn't see it but I knew she was tempted to snap my neck.

"You are right!" I said, laughing it off "I'm never singing again, that was really embarrassing" I continued.

"Yes it was!" she said, and let out the fakest of laughs. I laughed back trying to fight the urge of flicking her in the middle of the face.

Charlie was called to start and I sat down behind the monitors, leaving Lily where we were sitting before. Carolynn and Maeve came in as the first chords were being played and sat next to her in the "girlfriend section".
