[Charlie's POV]

"What are you saying Owen?" Lily said, jumping from her seat "Are you kidding me right now?"

I sat there with my mouth open looking up at Owen. Words were trying to come out of my mouth, but they simply couldn't. I could feel my skin crawl and shivers come down my spine as my body became stiffer by the second.

"Charlie you are not going to believe this right?" she continued, towering over me with her arms crossed.

"Charlie you need to believe me. I saw her with your friend Ben the other day in a restaurant. The day you went to the lake with Eri" Owen said, "I was sitting in the car with Maeve, and she saw you through the window..."

"Oh this is rich!" Lily exclaimed interrupting him, putting her arms in the air.

All I could do was get up from the couch and walk into my room. I heard Lily and Owen yell at each other for a couple of minutes while.

"You just want him to leave me so that he can go to that bitch friend of that little air headed girlfriend of yours" She said.

"I'm not lowering myself to your level but Eri is not the bitch here. How long did you think you could even pull this off?" Owen replied, and I could feel that he was fighting the urge to let go of every thought he had, "And don't even try to bring Maeve up"

I sat there in my bed trying to figure out what I thought. I was then interrupted by Lily barging in on me.

"You seriously wouldn't put my word below someone's you met just six months ago."

I finally snapped out of it and turned to her only managing to say a few words.

"Ben?" I muttered, trying to fight the urge to go to his house and give him a new face he could show around after what they did to me, "So you are saying that if I call him, he is going to deny this?" I said, calmly, now looking down at his contact on my phone, my finger inches away from the screen.

"Don't call him" she replied rapidly, and grabbed my phone from my hand "Don't please" she continued, now putting it behind her back and letting her head down, "He is just going to lie to you, please he is jealous of us, he always was"

I was tempted to believe her for a minute, to just ignore what was going on. I walked out of the room and Owen tried to talk to me, he had his phone in his hand trying to show me something but I couldn't hear anything he said. I just shook my head a bit and grabbed my jacket going out for a quick walk to cool off that ended being hours long. When I came back I found Owen locked in his room and Lily still waiting for me in the room, sobbing, with her hands on her face.

"Lily" I whispered, and she looked up "I'm sorry"

"Oh Charlie I knew you would believe me. Let's leave all of this behind please I'm begging" she said, and planted a kiss on me. I found myself reciprocating the kiss but then I pushed her off me.

"No Lily" I said, searching for the right words in my head "I'm sorry because I don't feel bad. I'm not sad. You cheated on me with one of my best friends and I'm not hurt."

"What are you saying?" She replied, now raising her eyebrows at me.

"I'm sorry but I'm not in love with you. I tried, I thought I was but I'm just not" I said, now sitting next to her "We were not supposed to happen"

"It's her isn't it." She said, with too proud of a tone for someone who just got busted for cheating.

"Yes" I replied, and looked down. Her phone buzzed, it was a text from Ben.

"Is everything ok? I've been waiting for you" It read.

"Just go" I told her, pointing to the door. She left grunting and angrily grabbing her things. I just watched her as she went out and then threw myself in the couch.

After an hour or two more passed Owen finally came out of his room. I put the pillow I had covering my face and grinned at him.

"So you are okay?" He said, and sat next to me.

"Yeah man, everything's good" I replied, "I feel more guilty than anything"

"You feel guilty?" He said, and shook his head in shock.

"Yes" I simply stated "Don't get me wrong I'm angry and I feel humiliated but I'm not sad."

Owen just looked at me and smiled.

"You on the other hand were pretty pissed last night" I said, and opened my eyes wide at him.

"I just couldn't believe she did that. When I saw her I started developing all these trust issues, like how could she do that if she was so in love with you as she said."

"Nah man don't think anything of it. We were not in love. It's not going to happen to you and Maeve" He turned to me and smiled.

"So, bro, let's watch sports or something" he said, and laughed trying to get out of the mushy moment. I just rolled my eyes and walked to the kitchen to make me some tea, so I could go to sleep. Owen's phone started ringing and he picked up. The person on the other line was so loud I could hear her screaming.

"Owen it's been 4 hours did you tell him yet!?" Maeve shouted from the other side of the line. I threw my head back and laughed loudly as Owen's eyes turned to plates.

"We have a problem" she continued, and I tilted my head at him, but she stopped shouting. I could see Owen look more and more concerned by the second.

He hung the phone and I sat next to him.

"So, what was that all about?" I said, passing him my cup of tea to try and treat his paleness.

"Maeve just wanted to know if I told you about Lily." He said, still looking straight after being scolded "And tell me that Eri is leaving to Paris right now, with Matthew"

"I didn't know he was going" I said, letting out a sigh.

"That's not all. Maeve said Eri didn't wanna listen to her when she wanted to tell her about Lily," and he paused for a bit "It looks like she has given up on you too"

I sat there for a minute as it all sunk in.

"What should I even do?" I said, breaking the silence "She doesn't want me, right?"

"The two of you are impossible" he replied, "I don't know. Go get her. Find out."

"Isn't that too cliché. Maybe I should just wait till she comes back"

"God no" he said, picking up his phone "Let's go right now. We'll pick Maeve up too"

And so we did, the plane was leaving in 10 minutes. I got out of the car and ran to the other side of the building where the gate was but I couldn't see her anywhere. As I took my phone out to call her I could feel someone's breath in the back of my neck.

"What are you doing here kid?" A familiar voice said. When I turned around I saw a tall man in a suit looking over me.

"It's none of your business Matthew" I replied, "Where's Eri?"

"Oh see it is. Because she just told me she wants you as far away as possible, and I'm here to make sure it is that way"

"I'm not believing a word you say. Why would she tell you anything?" I replied, scrolling down my contact list with my slippery fingers.

"Because I'm her first. And there's something about the first that the second will never be" he said, and let out a little laughing breath, "She just felt out of love, don't blame yourself"

"Just walk away" I said, finally finding her name on my phone. I pressed on it and called.

"Fuck it sent me to voice mail" I muttered and then I looked up.

"Yes Eri honey don't worry, turn your phone off it's no problem, and go in the plane I will be there in 2 minutes" I heard him say and then hung his phone.

"See ya kid" he finished, and walked away.
