Chapter 49

My mom approached to tell us breakfast was served. She put her hand on my dad's shoulder and looked down at him. I couldn't help but look at Charlie, and we both shared a smile as he looked right back at me. I always wanted to share a love as pure as theirs.

"Ok kids, let's go" he said, slowly standing up from his chair, but he suddenly lost strength. My mom and I couldn't help but gasp as he collapsed back into the chair. He took his hand to his head, and we all seemed to lose our breaths.

"Son please, help me get back up" my dad, this big almighty caring giant would've, in any other circumstances, refused to ask for help. Seeing him in a weak state felt unreal. And it was heartbreaking.

Charlie stood up and my dad grabbed his arm to stand up.

The image of my 6'6 dad leaning against 5'8 Charlie took us all out. He looked like a cartoon villain anytime he stood beside anyone. My mom and I snored laughed at the same time and my father and Charlie shared a smile.

"What's so funny?" we both exclaimed at the same time.

"Nothing, nothing" my dad said, putting his arms around my petite mom.

Charlie let out a chuckle and I punched him softly in his rib cage. He gave me a quick kiss on the forehead and kept laughing. I just shook my head and kept walking.

God, I missed him.

"Hey!! Look at who also came back!" I heard Maeve say in her baby voice.

"Eri!!!" Emma said, jumping from her lap and running towards me. She grabbed on to me and I put her up. Charlie looked at her and smiled, and she quickly put her head in the side of my neck.

"What are you acting all shy for now?" I said, tickling her side.

"Is this Charlie?" she said, through a giggle, whispering in my ear, still unable to look at him.

"Yes yes he is" I said, furrowing my eyebrows at my mom. She softly put her hand up to her mouth and we both giggled.

"I believe someone has a little crush" My aunt Jenna, Emma's mom said, coming down the stairs when she saw her daughter holding on for dear life to my neck.

"Oh no, how will I ever compete?" I said, causing Emma to giggle again"Are you ready to say hi now?"

"Yes" she said, through her teeth. Charlie dropped his bags and took Emma in his arms.

"Hi" he said, giving her a quick kiss on the cheek which cause her to blush. She hid her face in between her hands as the whole room uttered an "Awww" that made her even more embarrassed as Charlie handed her back to me.

"Hey, she didn't act like that around me" Owen said, pouting with his arm around Maeve.

"Just eat the fruit I got you" Maeve said, softly shaking her head.

We had a quick breakfast with my family and then my dad suggested we could go to the town center to show the guys around and introduce them to the town's rabble.

"Oh god, I can't wait to hear what they come up with" I said, shoving the last piece of toast down my throat, so I could go get changed, "Are you guys ok staying here while we change, we'll be here in 10 minutes tops."

"Hey, after that car ride, I'm ready for anything" Owen said smiling, and then turned serious at my dad's stare which made me and Maeve laugh as we ran to my room outside.

I was doing my makeup in the bathroom when I heard someone walk in the room and slowly make their way to where I was. 

"Hey Maeve I'm in here" I said, as I took the mascara to my eye. 

"Not Maeve" Charlie said, resting his head on my shoulder wrapping his arms around my waist. I turned around and put my arms around his neck. 

"You're a brave one to follow me in here" I said, smiling at him cheekily, "What is my mom going to think?" 

He quickly leaned back and opened his eyes widely, I could see him getting nervous which caused me to laugh, "You're such a dork" I said, pulling him back in and kissing him softly on the lips. My body tensed up as he kissed me back, his grip getting tighter, his taste in my mouth getting more and more intense "I missed you so much"

"Hey Eri, how much longer?" Maeve said through the other side of the door.

"Oh my god, I can't believe it" I uttered, refusing to let go off him.

"Let's go" he said, biting his lip, "We have all night"

After we came back we jumped in my car and my dad and mom took the truck. We all parked and got out.

"Girls why don't you go see what events are posted, maybe there's something fun to do this week"

"Yes, let's!" Maeve said, grabbing Owen's hand and making him run to the cafeteria where people posted flyers for town events.

"What is this, the town from foot lose?" Charlie said, as we approached Maeve and Owen.

"Quite the contrary" Owen said, "Look, there's a dance thingy, that sounds fun!" he said, sarcastically but Maeve and I shared a complicit smile.

"Oh no I won't" he said to her with a terrified look on his face.

"Yes, you will." She sentenced and then looked at us.

"Come on let's do it!" Charlie said as I was nodding my head no, "I know you can dance. I saw it."

I took a deep breath in and then saw Maeve pleading with her eyes.

"I mean we are here why not"

"Yes" he said, jumping in place and doing a little celebration with his fist.

We wrote our names down and started walking towards my parents again.

"Hey we're doing that too" my mom said, playing with the skirt of her dress as my dad tapped her feet.

"Oh my god this is going to be everything" Maeve said clapping her hands as I stood there looking at my parents still dancing in front of Charlie and my best friends.

I just KNOW Mr. Charles Gillespie would be great with kids I'm hurting
