i think
we feel
entitled
to love
and happiness
whatever
that's
supposed to mean
and when we don't
get it
the believers
stop believing
and the fanatics
fall apart
as if the
loss
is a knife in their
hearts
and as if
fairy tales
were the only
things
keeping them
together
stitched them
up
with thread
when they fell
down
and helped them
stand
when they couldn't
get
out
of
bed
or even
look
in
the
mirror
because they didn't
like
what they saw there
but fairy tales
are not
real
you know that
all
too
well
it's a sad truth
one that you don't like
to believe in
life is not
a fairy tale
or a storybook
there are no
happy
endings
for people who don't
work
for
them
perhaps it is a
good thing
that you aren't going to
marry a prince
or a princess
or someone who wears
a crown
because
you'd rather be another
crazy
broken
person
than wear your
heart
on your
sleeve
like the
queen
of hearts
from a place called
wonderland
since the whole
world
knew her pain
but it was not
her choice to
let
them
in
