Ranger gave us his blessing and now I am sitting behind Rover on his bike. My arms tightly wrapped around his chest, planning on never letting him go. He rides back to the forest and I know where he is taking me. That beautiful spot at the lake. He pulls out a blanket and takes my hand as we walk towards our spot, our fingers interlaced and I smile because I simply feel happy.
"Can I tell you something funny?" I ask. "Of course, Love." "I actually came to this place right before or little pool match." He laughs. "Can I ask you something?" Rover asks. "Of course Love." I answer. "You said that you weren't good at playing." "Yeah that was a total lie." I say with a huge grin on my face. "I never wanted to win a game of pool that bad." Rover answers. "Me neither, but I was totally conflicted cause I actually wanted to go on a date with you." He smiles at me and his grin turns cocky. "I never was turned on so hard by a game of pool". "Yeah, that was not so subtle. Your position right behind my ass gave it away." I say with a smile. "Next time we play stakes will be much higher and I will not hold back." "Ooh so you decided that there will be a next time?" He pulls me against his chest and I am totally surprised by his movement. He puts a hair lock behind my ear and looks intense at me. "There will be at least hundredths of next times." He promises me . "I don't know about you, but I intend on spending a long time by your side." His eyes sparkle as he says those words. I look into his eyes, those beautiful stormy eyes and kiss him. It almost looks as if the cold is changing into something warmer. This kiss is so different from all the others we have had. It's warm, gentle and tender. It says how much we care about each other, despite the short time we know each other. But most of all it says how much we love each other. He breaks the kiss and looks into my eyes.
I am scared, I know I love him. But what if he doesn't? Is it too soon? Will I scare him away if I admit my feelings for him? "Rover, I think I am in love with you." I gamble. And there it is. I love this man so much that I am willing to take a risk with my heart. "Alex, I know for sure that I am totally in love with you." We kiss again, this time it's hot and full of passion. He makes my world a better place. "Every minute that we spend together I can only feel us growing closer, as do my feelings for you."
We sit down on a blanket by the lake. He places his head in my lap and I play with his hair. We are just staring at each other with a smile on our face. "There is something vibrating in your pants and it isn't me." Rover breaks the silence.
I was ignoring my phone, enjoying the moment but it kept on going. As I take it out of my pocket I see Felix's name on the screen and our prom picture. When did he change his contact picture? It stings. I can see Rover watching me closely. "Pick up Love, you have to talk to him eventually." He says. I look at him but decide to listen he is right I need to talk to Felix. "Hi Felix." I answer the call. "Fox, finally. Where are you we need to talk." I can hear in his voice that he is agitated. "Felix I received a letter pointing me in the direction of my biological father." "What? Why didn't you tell me?" Felix asks confused. "Because I was hurting." I answer him. "I am sorry Fox. That was never my intention. Did you find him?" he asks. "Yeah I have. I am staying with him for a while." "Why would you do that? Why would you hurt your real parents?" His words stings, is he saying this out of anger or because he really means this? "That's low and you know it." I answer. "Yeah Fox, but it's the truth. You need to come back home." Felix isn't done I can feel it. "Does he know about the scholarships? Does he know he is holding you back?" he says. "No not yet. I am still deciding on what to do and coming home I don't see that happening any time soon." I smile at Rover as I say those words. "Then I'll come and get you myself." Felix says determined. "Felix don't, if you value or friendship you wait." "Fox, by now you should've realized that the last thing I want from you is friendship." He answers. Before I can even respond he hangs up and I am completely in shock.
Rover must have heard every word cause he has a look in his eyes that could kill. But he doesn't start to scream or yell. He just sits up and holds me close to his chest. "He used to be my best friend." I whisper. "Why does he called you Fox?" Rover finally asks. "It started as a joke. He had read some novel where the main character was called Fox by her lover. He said he found it fitting for me." Rover's eyes are still stormy.
"Tell me about the scholarships." He says. "I received a couple of them. But I still don't know what I want to do. That's part of the reason I came here. I hoped that getting to know my biological father would gave me a direction." I answer him. "You need to tell Ranger about them. And about that pig as well." Rover says mad. "Do you think it's true that my parents are hurting because I am here?" I am doubting my decision right now. "They were supportive of your decision?" He asks. "Not too happy, but they supported me." I answer. "I can't tell you what parents feel or think. I lost mine when I was fifteen years old. If you want to know call them." Rover says, he pauses for a couple seconds. "But sometimes loving someone means letting them go." He adds.
I put my head on his chest and relax in his embrace. I listen to his heartbeat. "Listen carefully and know that it only beats for you. Tonight the whole club will know that you are mine and mine alone." He says determined. "Can you tell me about the rules?" I ask "Of course I will." He softly kisses me. Rover explains everything about the club, respect and the rules. There are a lot of them but they all come back to respect.
