I woke up Saturday morning with a tinge of a headache. Damn red wine. I may take it easy tonight. I was contemplating having a few weeks sober just to get my head clear.

As I'd worked Friday I had quite a bit of cleaning to do. I also needed to go out and do some shopping for the girls coming round later.

I headed to Tesco about 2ish and picked up snacks and wine for us all. Emma and Charlie were both getting lifts to mine and back so we would all be having a drink.

As I was pondering over what wine to get I felt a tap on my shoulder and was confronted with my ex husband, Ian.

'Hey,' I said awkwardly.

'Hey Luce, getting some wine?' he asked. He had a hand basket with a few bits in.

'Yeah, Emma and Charlie are coming round tonight.' I answered simply.

'Listen, I'm glad I've ran into you, I have something to tell you and I'd rather you hear it from me.'

'Um ok', I said.

'I'm seeing someone.' he said looking down at the floor.

If Ian had told me this a few week's ago I probably would have burst into tears right there in the supermarket. Despite the split being amicable and not having any feelings for him anymore, it still stung. But now, I was in such a good place I was happy for him.

'That's great!' I said giving him a smile.

'Really? I was really worried about telling you!' he said looking taken aback.

'Yeah, really. Listen we've gotta move on eventually right?' I said. I felt so mature!

'Well yeah, but it was always gonna be weird right?' he asked

'Oh yeah definitely. I'm seeing someone too actually.' I offered. I wasn't going to give him any details though.

'Oh right', he said. He looked slightly shocked. 'Um that's great.'

'It is, we're both moving on with our lives. It's good Ian, really', he looked very unsure. I touched him arm gently to reassure him. 'Listen I'd best go, I need to have some dinner before the girls come around, bye!' I swung around and made my way to the self service checkout, paid for my things and went to the car. I felt so mature! I'd have a civil conversation about moving on with my ex husband.

Once I got home, I put everything away and put a jacket potato on for my dinner. I went upstairs while it cooked and got changed into comfy clothes for later.

My phone buzzed from my bedside table

Cap

Hey Lucy, hope you're ok. I'm just on my way to pick Scott up from the airport.

Lucy

I'm good thanks, just about to have my dinner. Miss you x

Cap

Miss you too darlin'

I dreamily went downstairs and had my dinner. Jacket potato with tuna and cottage cheese. I quickly cleared everything up and put all the snacks out on the coffee table in the living room along with 3 wine glasses. The doorbell dinged.

'Hello my dear', Emma cheerfully said as she made her way in giving me a hug.

'Hey, I'm so glad you suggested this!' I said while she took her coat and shoes off. 'What's in the bag?', I asked.

'Just some snacks and a bottle. I didn't know what you'd have in. You know I like my pinot grigio and I know you can't drink white wine anymore!' she laughed. I'd got dreadfully drunk on white wine about a year earlier to the point where I still didn't remember getting home and I hadn't touched white wine since.
