Only a short chapter this time, but I really like it :)

Chris' POV

I pulled the car back up at my house and jumped out of the car, getting Dodger out. He had been super excited to see me when I'd got to Ma's. Ma wanted to know everything we'd done in New York and wanted to talk about how lovely she thought Lucy was. Of course, I was totally biased. It made me happy that my Mom liked her though. It meant a lot to me that she approved of my choices. I was very close to my Mom and that was never gonna change.

I unlocked the door and Dodger scooted inside.

'Dodge, quiet ok, Lucy is asleep', I stage whispered to my dog shutting the door quietly as not to wake Lucy. I took off my shoes and walked quietly to the guest room, distracting Dodger with his favourite lion. I pushed the door open quietly.

She was lay on her side with the comforter pulled up tight around her. She looked so beautiful.

I had spent a lot of time and effort into planning the New York trip. I wanted to cram in as much as possible into the four days we were there and show her the time of her life. I think I'd succeeded. Seeing her reactions to everything just made my heart melt. The way her eyes lit up when she realised we were going to see Wicked, the way her hands gripped tighter and tighter onto my arm when we were up in the helicopter. How giddy she got seeing outside the Friends apartment block. I could watch her and never get bored.

I closed the door gently and made my way to the kitchen to grab some water and make something to eat while a smile played on my lips.

I was so taken with her. I had had girlfriends before, but Lucy was something else. We hadn't known each other long but it felt like forever, we were so comfortable in each others companies.

She had a very dry sarcastic humour which I loved, she cared so much about other people and was always worried about saying or doing the wrong thing. She was passionate about her photography and I loved how into it she was. I really wanted her to pursue it further, and I was already thinking of contacting Morten to see if he could spread the word around about her, maybe using the photos she'd taken for Defending Jacob as a kind of calling card. I wasn't going to tell her about it. Firstly I didn't know how she'd react, but I also didn't want to disappoint her, I hated seeing her get upset. That was the last thing I wanted.

'Chris?', I heard her voice make it's way down the hallway.

'Hey sleepyhead, good nap?', I asked meeting her half way and enveloping her into a hug. 'You smell all sleepy', I added kissing her forehead.

'I feel so much better after that, like a new woman in fact!', she said placing her arms round my waist and nuzzling into my shoulder. I also loved that she wasn't that dissimilar in height to me. She fit perfectly in my arms.

'Do you want some food? I was just about to make myself a sandwich?', I offered placing my arm around her and walking to the kitchen.

'That would be great, thank you, do you need any help?', she offered. That was another thing I loved, always willing to help.

'Ok sure, why don't you grab some stuff out of the fridge and we'll see what we can make', I said. Luckily Ma had done a bit of a shop for me while we'd been away so I had the basics in. We made ham and cheese sandwiches and sat down to eat them with Dodger taking his usual position at my feet.

I looked over at Lucy who was talking to Dodger while she ate her sandwich. Her eyes sparkled with excitement as she chatted away to Dodger, telling him all the things we'd done in New York (I also loved that she spoke to Dodger like a person, just like I did).

'What?', she said as she caught me staring.

'Just admiring the view', I replied with a cheesy grin. She just laughed and shoved my arm playfully. She'd also gotten much more touchy feely which I adored. I always wanted to be touching her and I was glad that she felt the same now. I had been wary of pushing her to do things too soon, but she was quite the firecracker and I don't think anyone could ever push her into doing anything. I also liked that she didn't treat me any differently. Sure, she asked about my films but it wasn't in a fan kind of way, she had a keen interest in the film industry and I was happy to tell her about my experiences. She didn't treat me like Chris Evans, Hollywood film star, she treated me like Chris from Boston and I loved it.

Was it love? We hadn't known each other long. But it felt like we'd known each other for years. We'd had such a connection when we first started chatting and it only got stronger the more we talked. Even if I'd had a shitty day, she always managed to make me smile. She was clumsy, charming, kind, funny and breathtakingly beautiful, something which she failed to see about herself. I was certainly falling hard.
