["I stood there: waiting, wanting, hoping, feeling. Allowing the sensations of the world to consume me as I stared deeply into the pools of honey that were his eyes. I wanted no more than to dive right in. For him to hold me close and never let go."...

~Casey~
The pain hit me like a ton of bricks. I didn't even feel myself phase back to human. All I could focus on was my arm, which was awkwardly lodged inside of a fucking bear trap.
"Argh!" I cried out causing the serrated steel to tear deeper through my skin. It was clamped just underneath my knuckles above the palm of my left hand all the way down each side of my forearm.
Having a high pain tolerance didn't matter when it came to these things. The constant pressure of metal slicing through your skin deeper and deeper with every breath was enough to overwhelm anyone.
"Casey!" Jessie seemed to have sprung out of whatever shock she was in previously. "Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god! Why did you do that? No, no, no, no, no, no, look at you." She whimpered at the scene in front of her.
"I-I'm s-sorry." I stuttered then let out another pain filled cry. Speaking strained my muscles causing the trap to harshly tug at my flesh.
"Shh, shh. It's okay. I forgive you. You're gonna be alright. Oh my god, you're bleeding really badly. Okay, alright, you're gonna be fine."
"It's n-not okay." I winced.
"Casey, shut the fuck up! We can have a heart to heart when your arm isn't stuck in a fucking bear trap!"
I couldn't help but laugh in the shock of it all. But it didn't last long. When I moved, even from that slight chuckle, I saw stars dance across my vision as the pain surged up my arm.
"Try to breathe. I know it hurts. I'm trying to look for the latch. From what I can tell, this trap looks like the ones uncle Jack has. Ugh, it's so fucking dark." She shuffled around her pockets and pulled out her lanyard which held her house keys, and thankfully, a tiny key chain flashlight. Now that was lucky. Well, maybe not so lucky considering my circumstances.
"Okay, uncle Jack, thank you for your trapping knowledge, and for the fact that I paid attention to what you taught us." She placed her hands on either side of the bear trap and looked at me with anticipation. "Alright, on the count of 3, okay? 1 . . ."
Without warning I felt the metal exit my skin making me yelp as I rolled over to my back. "What about 2 and 3?!"
"Sorry, I didn't want you to tense up while I reset the trigger. It could've made you bleed more."
"Ha, ha. Ow." I couldn't move my fingers without my whole arm pulsating with pure agony. And, while us wolves have super healing or whatever, it only really speeds up some of the time it takes to fully heal. Not as long as a normal person, but it still takes time.
"C'mon, let me help you sit up." Jessie gently guided me so that I rested against a tree. My arm lay limp on my lap, I was too afraid to move it.
"Can I see your arm?" She asked, her voice was stern but gentle.
