After bringing Quil to Sam's place, Sam gave him the talk about all things pack related. To give them some privacy, the rest of the pack separated into groups and started our evening patrol. I split off with Jacob and set off for the trails along the beach.

We walked along the cliffs edge silently, periodically stopping to take in the scent of the ocean. It helped calm my nerves and divert my focus from the dull aching across my body.

A coolness hung in the air as a storm approached. The dark overcast above the ocean seemed to be a sign of foreboding, just like everything else in my life currently.

My thoughts were interrupted by the sound of Jacob sighing. 'Do I have to ask you what's going on or are you gonna tell me?' My cousin questioned.

'Jake, I don't have the energy to talk about it right now.' I said honestly. I felt even worse than earlier. My head was throbbing and my body felt like it was going to give out any second. Yet, I had to keep going.

'Well, I'm worried about you. We all are, especially Embry.'

I tensed up at the mention of Em's name. My mind went back to the memory of what happened earlier, making me shudder at the thought.

'Jessie has made me well aware.' I replied sarcastically.

'Then you know we're just looking out for you.'

'I appreciate that you guys care, but honestly, I'm fine. I'd tell you otherwise if that wasn't the case.'

Jacob gave me a deadpanned expression. 'You're a piss poor liar, you know that, right?'

I sighed. 'Fuck off, Jake.' I responded with a lack of inflection to my voice. There was no energy left to give.

Jake rolled his eyes. 'Nice.'

A whistle jostled both of us from our argument. We glanced to each other as momentary panic rose amongst us. We each searched the beach below us quickly before it all became clear. It was Jessie and she was standing down by the shore with a smile on her face, and her hands tucked in her pockets. How the fuck had she managed to see us? Why the fuck was she even here?

'Well, I'll be damned.' Jake said in slight awe. 'Welp, we should probably go say hi.' Jake continued while getting ready to phase back to human.

That was when Jessie screamed, getting both of our attentions in an instant. My heart lurched at the sound.

"Oh my god! Bella!" Jessie pointed to the cliffs where the Swan girl was. Bella swan stood about fifty yards off the beaten path on a ledge just below eyeshot from where we were.
