It's been weeks since Josh asked Ammie to be his girlfriend in his own creative way and Ammie had not gotten a chance to tell Jade or well she didn't feel like it, and besides they were both busy with college applications, turning in their final projects, essays and assignments alike. It still felt very surreal to Ammie. Though she and Josh have been hanging out a lot, they haven't really revealed their relationship to anyone not even Josh's friends. It was on a need to know basis and no one needed to know because it was nobody's business, not Jade's, not Todd or Luke not Katy, no one. But the whole school was talking

"He did what?!" Jade shrieked surprising both herself and Ammie

"Calm down woman," Ammie ordered Jade, smiling amusingly as she took a bite out of her bacon cheeseburger. They were both sitting at a table at the far corner of the cafeteria, that Ammie has grown accustomed to eating in since she gave it a chance, when Ammie finally told Jade that Josh had asked her to be his girlfriend. Frankly, Jade kept asking questions and getting suspicious by the minute, it was pointless tiptoeing around her any longer.

"So, you guys are a thing now huh? Must be nice," Jade stated, breaking the silence that had settled between them which only hosted the sound of chewing, slurping and the unavoidable chattering all around the cafeteria, after seeming to digest what Ammie told her only twenty minutes ago.

"I know it's not really your thing, but you don't sound happy about it at all"

"Typical Jade," Josh interrupted, sitting beside Ammie and across from Jade and placing his lunch tray on the table.

"Hey," Ammie smiled up at him

"Hi sweetheart," Josh mirrored her smile and continued, "Jade is never happy about anything. Trust me, I know. One time she scored the highest in the entire class in an AP math pop quiz and Mrs. Stanbury seemed to have been appraising her too much, because Jade tore the paper in two, causing the teacher to stop talking immediately and stare in shock. I thought to myself 'what a girl'," Josh finished smirking at Jade

"Shut up Ferguison," Jade spat

"Well that's Jade for you," Ammie said unaffected by the story. Josh stared at Ammie, then leaned in and kissed her sweetly. They didn't seem to care that they were surrounded by people who didn't have confirmation until now of their relationship, the moment felt right, and they seized it. Jade rolled her eyes and looked away then just like that she took her bag and left the cafeteria. When they both broke the kiss, Ammie stared at the empty space across from her in confusion, wondering what had happened.

The fact is, Jade was happy for Ammie. She was glad that she had found someone to share her struggles with, the girl honestly operated as if she carried the weight of the world. Though she wasn't quite sure if Josh was the best candidate for the job, but he did seem to care deeply for Ammie and Ammie, well she was into him all along, she just kept lying to herself. Jade was actually not able to appreciate relationships since her terrible breakup two years ago. She dated her best friend for three years. Then sophomore year, he just broke up and moved away with his family to Australia, she begged him not to go but it was not his call and being so young she didn't understand that and even now has not forgiven him because he could've called and try to save their friendship but he didn't and he never responded to her calls or texts. Of course she never shared this with Ammie.

"Yo Jade," she heard someone call out to her from behind, she turned around to see that it was Luke.

"What?" she asked rudely. Luke fetched two rose pink cards from the front of his backpack and handed it to Jade. She looked from Luke to the cards and back at Luke questioningly.

"They are invitations to Melody's birthday party this Friday, she asked me to personally give them to you or Ammie. You are both invited," Luke spoke up answering Jade's expression

Jade's curiosity morphed into confusion and she hesitated for a while but grabbed the cards and stuffed them in a small part of her bag, not caring if they got crushed. Deciding to confront Ammie about it later, she hurried off to chemistry class.

After school, Ammie found Jade in the school's parking lot, causally leaning against the hood of her car, talking to a petite brunette.

"Hey," she announced as she neared the two

"Okay, I'll message you the instructions," Jade dismissed the girl and turned to Ammie. She took note of Ammie's furrowed brows and rolled her eyes, "lab partner," and Ammie nodded in response.

"Are you friends with Melody?" Jade asked getting straight to the point

"Melody Armadale? Students' Council President? Josh's ex-girlfriend? Rich, pretentious and bossy?"

"That's the one," Jade needlessly confirmed

"No, why?"

"She invited us to her birthday party this Friday," Jade answered fetching the cards which Luke gave her earlier, that are both now creased all over and handed them to Ammie. Ammie inspected the cards then strolled over to the trashcan and dumped them both.

"Nope, I'm not going," she stated walking back to where Jade was standing

"Wasn't planning to either,' Jade shrugged

"Melody hates my guts"

"Same here"

"And now that Josh and I are dating, she wants my head on a diamond platter"

"Well then. What do you say we go grab some ice cream at Joey's?" Jade asked changing the subject

"Let's go," they both hopped in Jade's car and left the parking lot.
