Elizabeth woke up with her head pounding like a war drum. Her wrists were bound, her back ached, and she was crammed into what smelled like a rusted-out truck bed.

"Fuck," she muttered. "Kidnapped. Again."

She was seriously going to kill those witches this time. No mercy. No negotiations. Just blood and fire.

Groaning, she turned her head and spotted Hayley unconscious beside her. Elizabeth kicked her.

"Ow!" Hayley jolted awake, glaring. That glare quickly morphed into panic as she realized they were tied up.

Before either of them could get their bearings, the trunk door flew open. A figure reached for Hayley—but she kicked out, nailing him in the chest.

"Seriously?" the guy growled.

"Tyler?" Hayley gasped, stunned.

Elizabeth rolled her eyes. "Great. You know our kidnapper. That's convenient. Tell your little mutt boyfriend to untie me before I snap his neck."

"You don't want to fight me," Tyler warned, smug. "You can't beat a hybrid."

"Maybe not right now," Elizabeth snapped. "But give me five minutes and a thimble of magic, and I'll have your head on a spike."

Tyler's eyes narrowed. "I know what you are. That's why I'm not touching you. But Hayley? I'll slit her throat if you try anything."

He raised a knife for emphasis.

Elizabeth groaned. "Bad doggie," she muttered, unimpressed. "God, it's exhausting having friends. One day someone will threaten Hayley and I just... won't care. Just wait."

Hayley looked wounded, but Elizabeth just shrugged. "Sorry, not sorry. I like living."

Hayley lunged at Tyler, screaming, "Let me go, you backstabbing half-breed piece of—"

Tyler pressed the blade to her neck, drawing blood.

"Shut. Up."

He dragged them out and into the woods, hauling them toward a rundown cabin. Elizabeth groaned.

"Another creepy cabin? Great. Because that went so well last time. Remember, Hayley? The witches? The baby-is-Lucifer cult?"

Hayley scowled. "Where are we?"

"The armpit of Louisiana," Tyler deadpanned.

"You attacked us," Hayley snapped. "In my backyard!"

"It's Klaus's backyard," Tyler bit out. "You're playing house with a psychopath. Real far from the girl I met in the Appalachians, saving wolves."
