Elizabeth had tried every locator spell she could think of — blood magic, scrying with personal items, even her own twisted versions of classic incantations — but nothing worked. Whoever had cloaked Rebekah and Klaus had done it well. And deep down, Elizabeth already knew why.

Celeste.

The cunning witch had possessed Sabine's body — that irritating seer with the glassy stare and cryptic riddles — and now she was out for blood. It explained why her bones hadn't held any residual magic. Somehow, the witch had cheated death. Elizabeth had to admit, the plan was clever. Still, she couldn't help but roll her eyes. Celeste clearly didn't understand that the Mikaelsons were basically unkillable cockroaches in designer clothes.

"Hayley! Elizabeth!"
Elijah's voice rang down the corridor, strained but steady.

They followed the sound to one of the rooms in the compound — and Elizabeth froze.

Elijah was shirtless.

And standing next to him was Marcel, equally stunned, while Hayley looked positively scandalized, her pen halted mid-note like she'd been sketching him for a romance novel cover.

"Whoa, Suits," Elizabeth whistled, arms crossed. "You look damn fine. I had no idea we were getting a strip show today."

Then her eyes narrowed as she caught sight of the names inked along his chest and arms.

"Wait. Are those... names? Elijah, are you seriously the type to tattoo your exes like a grieving Victorian poet?"

Elijah sighed, clearly unamused. "They're not tattoos. They're... a devinette. A riddle, left by Celeste. These are the names of the women she's inhabited over the centuries."

Hayley frowned, confused. "Okay... but why?"

"Because," Elijah said grimly, "Celeste forced me to choose between you, Elizabeth, and my siblings. Now she's playing games — tormenting me with riddles while they suffer. She knows I'll waste time trying to solve them... and that's time Klaus and Rebekah may not have."

He gestured to the inked names. "The solution is buried somewhere in these lines."

Elizabeth leaned closer, scanning the list, then gave a sharp, approving nod. "Well, well. Body-hopping and dramatic mind games? Celeste really committed to her villain arc, huh? I kinda respect the energy. But good for us — riddles are my jam."

She grinned, tossing her hair over her shoulder. "My sister Amanda used to throw fits when I solved them before she even finished reading. What can I say? I'm good. Hayley and I will take half the names. You two"—she waved a finger lazily at Elijah and Marcel—"take the other half."
