Elizabeth was born a siphoner, just like her older brother Malachai. Yes, it was a strange name — you could easily guess he wasn't well-liked by their parents. He was the black sheep of the family.

She wasn't liked either. But at least she got a decent name. Although, in her opinion, it was too much of a mouthful, so she preferred Lizzie.

She also preferred the term magic sucker over siphoner. It sounded cooler. Less boring. And Lizzie was the opposite of boring. In fact, she thought of herself as amazing — maybe she loved herself too much. But someone had to, right? Even if it was just herself.

Because loving yourself was important.

Most people described her as narcissistic, and honestly? They weren't wrong. She was. She loved who she was — or at least, she tried to. Because no matter how hard she pretended, her parents' cruel words sometimes stuck too deep.

Siphoners didn't have magic of their own. They had to take it from others — vampires, witches, werewolves. That made them abominations in the eyes of the Gemini Coven.

Especially in the eyes of her father.

He hated what she was. Couldn't bring himself to love his daughter because of it.

She and Kai were isolated from their other siblings. Not allowed to touch anyone in the coven — not even the ugly, stupid dog — in case they might "infect it."

They didn't eat with the others. Didn't go on family trips. Every member of the coven avoided them like they carried the plague.

At first, it hurt. Being feared. Being loathed. But then she learned to enjoy it. There was power in fear. Power in being hated.

She was never hugged again after they discovered what she was at age five. No warm arms. No kind words. Just Kai.

And Kai? He was worse off than her. They'd discovered what he was before he was even born.

So maybe she was the more messed-up one. Because she remembered what love felt like — right before it was torn away. Before her parents transformed into strangers. Monsters.

They were forbidden from using their abilities. From touching others. From being children.

She never wanted kids of her own. Not because she hated them — well, okay, she did hate them — but because she didn't think she was capable of love. Not real love. How could she love a child if she'd never been loved herself? What if they turned out like her — like Kai? What would the coven do to them?

She had scars. Faint little things that showed every time she siphoned by accident. Every time her siblings tattled. Her father never missed an opportunity to punish her.

Her siblings hated her too. Taught by their parents to hate the defective ones. To hate the abominations.

She was defective. A freak. A monster.

So she became one.

If they already thought she was bad, why bother pretending to be good?

Kai tried to protect her. Tried to prove himself. He believed he could earn a place in the coven. Elizabeth had stopped believing a long time ago.

Their parents didn't want Kai to lead the coven — that much was obvious. They kept having kids, hoping for twins. Perfect twins.

So they killed them. Their siblings. Not all of them — Josette was spared. Mostly. She lost her spleen, thanks to Elizabeth.

The little twins, the real targets, escaped. Josette saved them.

Elizabeth hated those two little demons. Hated how loved they were. Hated how her parents looked at them — with pride. With hope.

There was a time Lizzie would've given anything for that kind of love.

Now? All she wanted was to see them bleed.

Kai was supposed to perform the Merge. They were ready. Euphoric. Smiling. Drenched in blood and victory.

And then they were tricked.

Two prison worlds. One for each of them. Even more isolation.

They'd taken the one person Elizabeth had left — and locked him away from her forever.

She screamed. Raged. Broke.

Years passed. The same day, over and over. Alone. Forgotten.

Until they came — the Strix. They freed her for her "unique talents." Apparently, Elizabeth could cure a werewolf bite. That got their attention.

Ending up in New Orleans, a bargaining chip against Klaus Mikaelson? That was not in her plan.

And neither was getting pregnant.

A miracle child. Her child.

She hated kids. Hated the idea of motherhood. And it looked like the baby's father wasn't thrilled about it either.
