I was awoken to my phone rapidly vibrating on the end table. I reached over and grabbed it. "Hello" my voice came out raspy and odd. "Hey" Luke said with one breathe. "Luke?" I asked unsure of myself. "Yeah, I just wanted to ,ask you on that date now" he said. I could tell by his tone that his eyes were wandering the room as he said it. "At 3 in the morning?" I giggled though the phone. "Yeah, I'm sorry about that. I just didn't really know how to ask" he said. I smiled at his honestly through the phone. "I'd love to Luke" "awesome! So when are you free?" He asked "I'm in Seattle for the next week on break." He added "Well I can do Saturday?" I said. "Too far. How about tomorrow?" He said laughing at himself. "But only if you wanted to I mean" he said noticing that he broke his cocky tone, and correcting it. "Tomorrow's good, text me around when you think you'll be here" I answered. "Okay cool" he said. We sat on the line in silence for a few moments. "Well I'll text you. See you tomorrow" he said. "See you!, sleep well" I said. I ended the call before another silence could approach.

As you could imagine. Trying to find something to wear on a date with Luke hemmings is very challenging. I couldn't wear my nirvana shirt because we would probably be matching, and my many band to shirts were in the wash. I decided on a flowing black shirtsleeve with light ripped jeans and my black vans. My hair was down and wavy. The blue showing up in an ombré way. I smiled in the mirror. Even though I knew that I wasn't enough. It still felt good to convince myself i was for a little while. I wasn't fat. But I wasn't skinny either. My thighs were disproportionate to my calfs due to my many years in soccer. And I didn't have a six pack either. I can't sugar coat it in any way. It sucked. The worst part was that I could accept and encourage other girls who were bigger than me. But I could not except myself like that.
My phone vibrated and Luke texted me that he was on his way. I took one last look at myself and then decided not to look in the mirror for the rest of the night. I turned the ringer on my phone off and yelled goodbye to Katie as I walked out the door.
"Hey you didn't give me the wrong address" Luke's beautiful smile greeted me through the rolled down window. I stood up from the bench I had been waiting on" I didn't. Thought about it, but didn't" I laughed at him ,climbing into the car. "You look really good" he said looking at me. "Thank you" I blushed. "You do too". He smiled at me. His smile was absolutely wonderful. It look up most of his face. But In a good way. In a way that you didn't mind because you would allow his smile to take up your entire world and still want more. "So I didn't know where you would want to go" he said pulling into the side of the road. "So I thought that we could just walk around the city until we found a good place to eat." He said looking embarrassed. My heart beat rapidly inside my chest as I decided to go through with my next move. I reached my hand over to his shoulder and placed it on him. "I've actually always wanted to do something like that. That sounds great" I said smiling. His eyes met mine and I finally got a good look at the complex patterns that they withheld. "I'm glad, I've never really been on a date with someone I met at one of the concerts" he said opening his door. I grabbed my bag and swung it over my body. Luke walked around the car and opened the door for me. "Thanks" I said as he closed it.

"So tell me about yourself" he said as we walked by each other in search of a place to eat. "You go first" I replied. Which caught him off guard a little. "Well I'm Luke and I'm in a band, and I'm really awkward. And I have no idea what to say and it sucks because I really want this to go well" his words turned at the end sounding more sad. I looked over to him to find him walking with his head slightly downward. I stopped. "What?" He said locking eyes with me. "I-I saw a pizza place, do you want to go there?" I asked changing the subject. "Yeah sounds good" he said.
We sat down at the table and continued the silence we'd experienced most of the night. "I want this to go well too" I finally said breaking It. "So tell me about you. But leave out the famous or in a band part. I want to actually know about you." I said in one breath. Letting it out. He looked at me. Shocked obviously. Which alarmed me a little until his beautiful smile took over his face. Which made my stomach flutter and my smile appear as well. "I'm Luke, I'm from Sydney. I'm visiting Seattle because it's an amazing city and I love to see new places. I have older brothers, and I dropped out of school to pursue a music career" he smiled as he explained. "Your turn" he added. "I'm Lia. I'm 18 and I love music. I left my hometown to go go college but I haven't exactly majored in anything so I just take random classes that are probably going to get me nowhere. I moved here two months ago and I love it because I love rain." I replied. We continued the talk over dinner like that. Asking random questions and smiling at each other's sarcastic answers. It wasn't a fairytale, movie first date and that was the best part of it. I was me and he was him and the thoughts of not being good enough for him weren't there.

As we pulled into the lot of my building I sighed. "I don't want you to go" Luke said after a couple of seconds of silence. Catching me off guard. "I don't want to go" I replied. He put the car into drive and started to make his way away from the busy city. Just like that. No words to where we were going. But it was perfect. We drove for another couple of hours talking about music and school and family. Just talking and laughing and singing. Until we found ourselves in my Parking lot once again. This time was better though. Because he got out of the car and opened my door for me. I liked how like wasn't all talk. He was actions. He grabbed my hand and helped my out of the car. "I had a really good time" I said to him. "I did too. Thank you Lia" he smiled shutting the door. I smiled once again and turned on my heel to leave. He grabbed my wrist and pulled me towards him slowly. His eyes never leaving mine. I glided in his touch until he brought his lips to mine. My body shot up like a million blinking lights. As he pulled away I placed my hand on the back of his neck and pushed him against me. Kissing him back. After a few moments I pulled away and bit my lip. "I better go" I said. "Yeah it is 2 am" Luke laughed. I pressed my lips to his one last time before turning around and making my way to my apartment.
