The last few days have been hard for Jackie as she constantly prays that her husband will wake up. For her to have a sense of normalcy she holds his hand, needing to feel the rough yet softness of them. She longs for him to be out of the medically induced coma, so he can hold her and tell her he loves her.

"Jack, I know you can hear me. Oh, how I wish you could talk to me, telling me you love me, holding me in your big strong arms. I love you so much, Jack."

Just then the doctor comes into the room.

"Good afternoon Mrs. Kennedy," the young doctor says, "I'm Doctor Walsh, I'm your husband's Cardiologist. Dr. Travell has asked that I be apart of your husband's care team," he says extending his hand.

"Good Afternoon Doctor," Jackie replies shaking his hand.

"I've come in to take a look at him since he was shot near the heart and to see if he is healing properly, as well as make sure there are no other complications."

"Do you need me to leave the room doctor?"

"No, you don't have to. I don't plan to take long, I still have to examine the x-rays that were taken yesterday."

"Ok," Jackie replies stepping back letting the man do his job.

She watches as the doctor examines Jack's chest, specifically the area near his heart. After finishing his very quick examination the doctor signs into Jack's chart.

"Alright, Mrs. Kennedy, I will be back tomorrow morning. Your husband seems to be healing nicely, so I will converse with Dr. Travell as well as go over you're husband's x-rays."

"Thank you, Dr. Walsh," Jackie says before taking Jack's hand.

Not long after Dr. Walsh leaves the door opens and Mac and Kenny walk in.

"Hi Mac, Hi Kenny," Jackie says as she hugs both of them.

"Hi Jackie," they both reply after hugging her.

"How is he doing?" Mac asks.

"So far everything seems positive. His Cardiologist just left and he didn't report anything wrong, so it seems he's making a good recovery."

"Good, when do they plan on taking him out of the coma?" this time Kenny asks.

"I don't know, I'm supposed to talk to Dr. Travell today so I'll ask her then.

A little while later Dr. Travell enters the room.

"Good evening Mrs. Kennedy, gentlemen," she says as she enters the room.

"Good evening Dr. Travell," Jackie replies along with Mac and Kenny.

She walks over to the sink and washes her hands before walking over to Jack.

"Mrs. Kennedy I'm just going to take a look at your husband to see how he is healing and I'll have a nurse come in a refill his Intravenous fluid."

"Ok."

The three of them watch as Dr. Travell skillfully remove some of Jack's bandages and put them back along with replacing some.

"Dr. Travell, when will my husband be taken out of the coma?" Jackie asks once the doctor is finished her examination.

"Considering that he is making a good recovery, my team and I plan to take him out of it tomorrow morning, but I must warn you that it will take a minimum of twelve hours up to three days for Mr. Kennedy to wake up," Dr. Travell responds as she washes her hands.

"That's wonderful. Almost three days why so long?"

"Well its different factors here, one being how fast the medication used leaves his body once the process has been reversed, and also a factor is Mr. Kennedy's age. Although he is in very good health, he isn't in his twenties anymore."

"I understand, so after tomorrow it's another waiting game?" Jackie asks.

"Unfortunately yes, albeit this waiting game I pray will be much shorter," Dr. Travell responds.

Jackie sighs and takes Jack's hand. "Me too. So after he wakes up, then the next steps will be to get him ready to go home?"

"Yes that will be the next goal, but for right now we're just making sure all his wounds heal without any infections. Also, Mr. Kennedy will need to go to physical therapy to help him with being able to use his legs again."

The next morning Jackie is awakened from her sleep when Dr. Travell and the anesthesiologist come in to begin the process of bringing Jack out of his coma.

She watches as the anesthesiologist begins the reversal process. The overall process only taking at least fifteen minutes. Now the other waiting game begins.
