I Love You

Jack has left his office for the day and is walking towards his car when an all-black car pulls into the garage. Not noticing the car that just pulled in Jack responds to the text from Jackie asking him to pick up dinner.

Thank you Bunny, I love you are the last words he sees before everything goes dark.

An hour has gone by and Jackie is getting worried.

"I don't know where he is Margaret, it's not like him to not call by now. He had told me he was leaving his office when I asked him to pick up dinner," Jackie replies holding Jr. in one arm while starting the microwave.

"I don't know either Jackie, I hope everything is alright," Margaret says with concern.

"Me too, I'll be glad when he is officially done with the mafia. The last thing I need is a phone call telling me that my husband is dead," Jackie replies before hearing a beep indicating another call is on the other line.

"Hold on one moment Margaret."

Jackie looks at the phone to see it's Mac on the other line.

"Hi Mac, have you talked..." is all she can say before Mac cuts her off.

"Hi Jackie, are you sitting down?"

"No, why?"

"I need you to sit down for what I am about to tell you?"

Jackie instantly gets a feeling in her gut that something isn't right.

"Mac, is it about Jack? Is he ok?"

"Where's John?"

"He's right here in my arms. Mac what is wrong? Where is my husband?"

"Jackie listen to me, please put John down and have a seat."

From the tone in Mac's voice, Jackie complies with his request. After putting Jr. inside his pack n play, Jackie takes a seat on the sofa.

"Ok Mac, I'm sitting down."

"Jackie," Mac pauses, "I need you to get to the hospital as quickly as you can. Kenny's wife is on her way to watch Jr. so you can come down here."

"Mac, what happened to Jack? Please Mac don't tell me that my husband is dead?" Jackie says her voice cracking.

"No he isn't dead, but he is in critical condition."

Jackie feels like the air has been knocked out of her.

"Where is he?" Jackie asks after a moment.

He's at NYU Hospital, he was shot multiple times while he was getting into his car," Mac says solemnly.

"No!" Jackie cries out, "I'm on my way!"

Just then the doorbell rings, after letting Kenny's wife in Jackie quickly makes her way to the hospital.

Mac looks up when he hears the ding of the elevator to see Jackie getting off.

"Jackie, the doctor just told me they have Jack in surgery to remove the bullet fragments in his chest and stop the internal bleeding," Mac says when Jackie comes up to him.

"Is he going to be ok?" Jackie asks with pleading eyes.

"All they are saying is that he is in critical condition and that they are trying their best to save him."

"Mac I can't lose him, not after all we've been through," Jackie says before she begins to cry.

Mac hugs Jackie and holds her while they await Jack's fate.

A few hours later...

Jackie is sitting beside Jack watching the steady rise and fall of his chest as his breathing is assisted with the help of a machine.

She has been praying since Mac called her and told her what happened to her husband.

She can't lose Jack, not after all they have been through. She loves him so much and the thought of living without him scares her. Most importantly she doesn't want John Jr. and the new baby to grow up without their father.

"Jack my love, please don't leave me. Jr. needs you and I need you, our baby needs you. You have to come back to us, my love."

She leans forward and kisses him gently on the lips.

Jackie turns when she hears the door opening. Mac walks in and stops at the foot of the bed.

"What did the doctor say?" Jackie asks breaking the brief silence.

"They said they were able to stop the internal bleeding and removed the bullet fragments. Right now they just want Jack to rest so his body can heal properly, especially considering his age."

She smiles slightly as she knows her husband would be irritated by the doctors treating him like an old man. Jack prides himself on his youthful appearance and tries his best to keep himself in shape.

"Have you called and checked on Jr.?" Mac asks.

"Yes he's fine," Jackie replies.

Right now she wishes she could lay beside him and hold him. Due to the many machines that are hooked up to him, she doesn't want to risk something getting unplugged.

Looking at the clock on the wall, Jackie decides that she wants to take a quick shower.

"Mac I'm going to take a quick shower, would you mind sitting with Jack,"

"Sure Jackie," Mac replies sitting down in the chair next to Jack's bed.

Once Jackie goes inside the bathroom. Mac takes a look at his boss. He thought that he would never see him like this. He wishes that he insisted on Jack having extra coverage, but knowing how stubborn Jack makes him feel like he should have pushed harder.

Mac knows Sam is behind this. Sam will send his minions to do his dirty work. He and Kenny are determined to bring Sam down themselves. Right now Kenny and the rest of the guys are working out a plan to take out Sam and his henchmen.
