Part 58: "Caillie?"

(Colorado)

It's been months since Pedro and I broke up.

“Dad, how's you day? Was it fine?” He asked, mukhang pagod. Pero sinusubukan pa rin akong kausapin.

“Yes, it was fine. But definitely, not the finest this time.”

“Dad, don't kill my vibe again, OK?” He scoffed and opened his bag and got something.

“Sure. I'll open this later. Anyway, why would your mom and your uncle would go here? Is there something going on here? Tell me, son.”

“No, it's a surprise. Not a prank, dad. Not putting on my games to you this time, I promise.”

“Anyway, I have to sleep now. You know, it's late night. And I have to go to Sariaya tomorrow for the conference.”

“Sure, dad.” He snorted and smirked at me.

He went straight to his room and I was about to go upstairs when my phone suddenly rang. It was an anonymous number. So I tried to answer it.

“Hello, who's this?” Tanong ko sa kabilang linya.

“Colo, this is Georgina. Have you seen your son's invitation?”

“Which is which? 'Yung nasa envelope ba?”

“Yes, it is. Try to open it.”

I opened it. And I suddenly smiled while seeing the card. It was his invitation for his upcoming recital and mini-concert at Loco Restaurant in Taguig, which happens to surprise me, a lot. And I felt I forget something.

I finished my speech on the conference and go straight to the restaurant. I didn't know that it was something to do with my... yes, birthday. Today is indeed my 43rd birthday. I don't know. But I know my son very well.

“Dad, are you coming?”

“Yes, I'm on my way. By the way, may recital ka ba ulit sa school ninyo?”
