Part 52: I've changed, for the better.
(Colorado)
"Manang, can you make an espresso for me?"
"Opo, sir. In a jiffy."
"What about Colorado? Where is he now?" Hindi ko na lang papansinin 'to. Tahimik na rin ang buhay ko. There's no use para patulan ko pa 'to.
"Good morning, daddy!" He greeted me with such sheer happiness. "Where are you going?" Napansin niyang naka-suit na naman ako. Alam niya na talaga. "I'll just go to Alabang. It's just for a meanwhile. Then I'll go back in afternoon."
"Dad, it's OK. I got used to it. But then, you're still the greatest dad in the world."
"Thanks, my son! You have grown too much." And I ruffled his hair. It's fluttering to know that my son has a better understanding than me. What I mean is he's becoming my psychologist. To have him as my counselor gives me an overwhelming feeling.
"No, dad. I still have things to learn in life. So I guess, I'd be all grown up when I stopped learning and applied those in experience."
"That's very clever of you, Billie!"
"I know, right?"
After that conversation, I left for ribbon-cutting ceremony of the franchise.
...
This is our day para i-spend.
"Billie, what do you want for today?"
"Dad, I just want to ask you something." Billie's somewhat giddy to ask something.
"What's that?" I ask nonchalantly.
"When will you plan to have a lover?"
"Oh, Billie, you're already my lover."
"I know, dad. But, how about you? Of course, I have my own things to find out later on. And I'll leave as soon as I finish college and find my job."
