Act 4: Surprise Returns

Scene 1:

It's the next day. Eddie woke up, got ready for school, and had breakfast. Noah was a bit late, and only came downstairs when Eddie was on his way out. 

Eddie: Bye mom, bye dad, bye Max.

Noah: Hey, wait. I'll take you to school in the convertible again.

Eddie: Actually... I think I'll walk this time. See you in the trials.

Noah: Wait, are you sure?

[Eddie leaves]

Noah: Wow, what's with him?

Gary: I don't know. He seemed to like going to school in the convertible yesterday.

[Noah looks outside through the window and sees Holly waiting for him]

Noah: Oh... Oh, so that's... That's nice.

Judy: What's going on?

Noah: He had a girl waiting for him.

Gary: Oh... Flashbacks of you and that Indy girl.

Judy: Gary!

Gary: Oh, sorry, I forgot that didn't turn out great.

[Eddie and Holly are now walking to school]

Holly: You know, you don't have to walk to school just because I said the convertible was pretentious. I didn't really mean it.

Eddie: I know... But I also felt like walking today.

Holly: Your house is awesome, by the way.

Eddie: Yeah, it is. You have to come over, just so that we can play Burnout, and I can destroy you.

Holly: In your dreams, haha.

[They finally get to the school]

Eddie: What class are we having next?

Holly: Geography.

Eddie: Geography blows... Well, all of them do.

Holly: Yeah, but to be honest, I can't wait for this one.

Eddie: Why?

Holly: The teacher is gonna announce the contest. Basically, whoever makes the best group project will win a field trip. It's usually just some weird place up north, but since they couldn't do it last year because of corona, there are rumors that they saved up some money and the winners will be sent to New Zealand. I don't know if it's true, but I hope it is.

Eddie: Oh, that's nice... And we're definitely gonna win, 'cause we have Chase.

Holly: Exactly, Chase is basically a genius when it comes to school shit.

[Chase creeps up from behind]

Chase: And not just that... I'm a genius on everything else.

Eddie: Bruh, you just show up like that.

Chase: Yep, 'cause I'm a genius.

[Bree joins them]

Bree: A genius at being an idiot.

[Eddie and Holly laugh. Russ then shows up and kisses Holly, as Eddie dies inside a little, seeing that]

Russ: So, let's see if the teacher will announce the trip to New Zealand.

Chase: Even if that turns out to be true, what if it's some lousy part of New Zealand?

Holly: Doubt it, it's probably something good.
