Winter

As expected the fundraising event was uneventful. Fitting. I thought on the way back to the apartment. Kaiden was busy on his phone and I sat with my arms crossed. The night was nothing like a date. I idly sat by and watched him smile and shine in front of his co-workers and their wives who thought their admiring stares towards my fiancé went unnoticed.

"You okay, Babe?" Kaiden asked.

"I'm fine." I scratched my nose to avoid his gaze. I was upset. I could've had a better time out drinking with a potential new friend. Kaiden sighed agitatedly.

"I'm trying here. You wanted a fun night out-" I scoffed.

"That's not exactly what I'd call fun, Kaiden."

"What else do you want from me?" He interrogated. I rolled my eyes, just wanting to get out of the car. Fortunately, the limo pulled to our apartment and I stormed out. He met up with me at the elevators. "I'm sorry."

"It's whatever, Kaiden, honestly I'm just tired." The elevators dinged just as Phoebe sauntered in the building with a petite blonde girl hanging on her side. I rushed in and hoped the doors would close before they got over but Kaiden held them open for her.

"Thanks." She said to him, glancing at me briefly. Her dark hair tumbled around her; untamed, and her bangs made her look mysterious. The young women held her hand and blushed so excessively her chest was turning red. Phoebe kept her eyes on me as she moved the girl in front of her and leaned back against the wall. Her hands traveled down the girls torso and rested over her private, pushing her back. I peeked at Kaiden who was- of course- oblivious and texting on his phone. The girl giggled as Phoebe tucked her face into the nook of her neck, her glistening blue eyes still on mine.

What the hell's she thinking? It was as if she was teasing me or something. She nipped the girls neck, marking her with her teeth and pulling at her flesh. My jaw dropped. The girl struggled to hold in her moan, but was obviously too drunk to even care. Her head rested on Phoebe's shoulder and her mouth fell open. Kaiden glanced up, smirked, and looked back down.

"Are you going to introduce me, Winter?" She taunted. At the mention of my name Kaidens focus shifted and he glanced between the two of us. I was so shocked I almost didn't speak, but I didn't want to seem suspicious- which was absurd considering we'd never done anything of the sorts.

"Kaiden, Phoebe. Phoebe, my Fiancé Kaiden." She held out her hand past the petite girls body and shook his.

"Nice to meet you. This here is, Bae." The girl waved. Nobody really said anything and thankfully the doors opened. I couldn't get into my apartment fast enough but as soon as I unlocked it I caught Phoebe kissing Bae and peeking at me afterward. I stormed in, threw my bag down, headed to the wine shelf, and grabbed a bottle. I poured two glasses and handed one to Kaiden. His tie was now slung over his shoulder carelessly and there was something rugged about him I found irresistible.

"What was that?" He questioned, quirking a thick brow. The jealousy was radiating from him.

"What?" I hoped to god he thought there was nothing going on between Phoebe and I.

"That girl. She couldn't stop looking at you." I rolled my eyes. "And the way she said your name?" I shrugged.

"She was drunk. It was actually our first time talking, and she had a girlfriend. You clearly seen that." Even as I said it, I didn't believe the only reason she was looking at me was because she was drunk, and the other part wasn't exactly a lie.

"I don't think that was her girlfriend." I downed the wine and poured another.

"Who cares? Tonight's supposed to be about us, right?" I rounded the island after downing another glass and wrapped my arms around him. He smirked and held my butt in his hands.

"Okay, the rest of the night is about us. I have one request though." I smiled up at him and kissed his chin.

"Anything."

"Don't talk to her anymore, she has a crush on you." My heart raced and I bit into my lip.

"I don't do girls, Kaiden." I stated, releasing him and sitting on the white and black marble island.

"Usually, no. But she's very..." I raised my eyebrows, daring him to say something.

"What? Gorgeous?" He shrugged, almost feeling bad for agreeing. It was a matter of not being blind. Phoebe was hot no matter who you were talking to.

"Yeah, I guess, babe. I'm just saying, I don't trust it." His hands found my thighs.

"Trust it or me?" I didn't know why I was going there, I should've just listened and left it alone. I didn't need Phoebe as a friend, but even so, I wanted her as one.

"Why are you making this a big deal? If you've never even talked to the girl why's it so hard to stay away?"

"I'm not! All I'm saying is it's going to be hard making friends if you cock block them and assume they all have crushes on me. She's just being nice, and herself. Which is more then I can say for everybody at that event."

"Well maybe that's what I don't like. You can make other regular friends, Winter." I jumped down and stormed into my room, heading right for the bathroom. I stripped my clothes quickly and turned the shower on. Kaiden wasn't far behind me. "I'm sorry, we should just drop this. Talk about it later."

"Good idea. I'm taking a shower. We'll talk after." I agreed, closing the door behind him.
