Phoebe
"Ugh, what to wear?" I asked myself, eyeing a beautiful black mini dress and a blue skirt with a matching top. After careful consideration I opted on the dress and slipped it on. I stepped into black heels and eyed myself in the mirror in my bathroom. My cleavage was exposed and so much skin was showing I wasn't sure I'd made the right decision, but I didn't have time to change because Mara was calling me. Repeatedly.
"Get your ass over here." She demanded, clearly already indulging herself in fruity liquor.
"Okay, okay. Leaving now. See you in 10." I hung up, grabbed my black hat that matched my outfit, and scurried out.
"Hey!" I called, stopping the elevator from closing. A sweet, intoxicating fragrance swept over me and it almost halted me in my tracks when I saw her standing there in a white halo. I shamelessly checked her out. "Wow, you look so beautiful." It came out in a breath, I couldn't have stopped the words if I tried. She blushed sweetly, and it almost made her adorable freckles darker. I loved how she didn't cover them. They traveled to her shoulders and a little down her smooth arms. I wondered if she tasted as good as she smelled.
"Thank you," she replied. Her voice was small but had a little depth, it made me remember her singing. Strong, confident, and beautiful. I watched her eyes land on my breasts, and my heart raced fervently, loving how she looked at me. There was curiosity in her beautiful chocolate eyes. The elevator doors closed and I stepped beside her, basking in her warmth and her sweet honeyed scent.
She looked apologetic, "I'm sorry about bailing on you-" with a wave of my hand and a smile, I shook my head.
"No, no worries. I hope you have a good night with your fiancé." I didn't know why I hated the words coming from my mouth but they left a nasty taste behind.
"I hope you have fun tonight, too." She said, her undertone sweet and suggestive.
I would have a better time if you'd join me. I had thought to myself. The doors dinged and opened.
"After you." I said, taking the opportunity to eye her nice butt as she walked before me. She approached a limo and I turned and headed down the street. The bar wasn't too far from my apartment and I was there within minutes. I spotted Mara in between two gentlemen who couldn't keep their eyes off her. She was in a bright pink fitted dress that exaggerated her curves and showed off her large breasts. Her hair fell straight down her back and she walked in black thigh highs. The men beside her were older, handsome, and had light wrinkles. Mara stood excitedly when she seen me and embraced me in a huge hug.
"Hi!" She screeched, ringing my ears.
"Jesus, hi. How drunk are you?" I wondered as she turned to face the men.
"This is Adam and Joey." I shook their hands and ignored their blatant stares at my chest. They looked like ordinary suburban dads, fair hair and a growing belly. "Oh my god, you look hot!" She said, handing me a drink. "About time you got out of those sweats!" And with that I rolled my eyes and downed half my drink. I needed something stronger if I were going to survive through the night.
"Scotch." I ordered while she indulged the guys in a conversation. From across the bar I caught a blonde lock and immediately thought of Winter. When the bartender placed the drink down I swallowed eagerly. Why the fuck was I thinking about her? She was a stranger to me. And taken.
"Whoa, you sure you don't want one of those girlie drinks?" I think it was Adam who said the demeaning comment. I gave him a smug smile and turned to Mara.
"I want to go to a club and ditch these guys." I said to her, not at all lowering my voice. She gaped then looked at them.
"Alright." She sighed, placing a $50 on the counter and giving the men an apology. We hauled a cab and made our way downtown.
"What was that?" She questioned.
"Nothing, I just didn't want to hangout with them."
"Why? They were hot. Older, yes. But hot." I laughed and shook my head.
"No. And they were probably married." The club was packed and booming. The decor was colorful and the bodies were so cramped it was hard to move. I clutched Mara's hand until we made it to the bar. We took a few shots and I decided that it was enough for me. I didn't enjoy feeling completely out of control, but I did enjoy the fuzzy feeling. We danced freely on the dance floor and it didn't take long for a couple of men to make their way over. Mara was more than delighted, she danced on one dude and was grinning ear to ear. When she whispered in his ear I knew what the night had in store for her. Before she could even ask me I nodded.
"Just go! Have fun and thanks!" I shouted just loud enough for her to hear. She gave me a thumbs up and after she was gone I'd settled into a seat at the bar nursing a water. A girl and her friend were laughing hysterically as they moved to the spot aside me. The girl that caught my attention was slightly tanned and blonde with blue eyes like mine. She was short and had a brush of freckles on her nose that she tried to conceal with foundation. She wore a tight teal dress and matching shoes and I couldn't keep my eyes off of her.
"Bae, I'm going to the bathroom I'll be right back." Her friend said, rushing away. Bae tucked a blonde curl behind her ear, flashing a sparkling stud. She was petite with very small breasts but a much curvier bottom that was more than appealing.
"You're very pretty, Bae." I said- creepily if I might add. She nibbled her pink lip and grinned, she obviously loved compliments. Or didn't get them much. I couldn't decide.
"Really? Thanks! How do you know my name?" I scooted closer and smiled.
"Your friend. She said it before she left." Bae was a full foot shorter than me and maybe a few years younger. She had a naivety about her and her sparkling blue eyes gazed at me curiously. I wondered if she'd ever been with a girl.
"You're very beautiful, I like the whole black thing you have going on." I laughed with her and she leaned in.
"How old are you?" I asked, slipping a long lock of hair behind her ear. I enjoyed watching her cheeks heat.
"23."
"You look barely 21 are you sure you're telling me the truth?" I allowed my finger to roam on her ear then her neck and she enjoyed it, I could tell. I could see the goosebumps sprouting across her delicate skin. Her lips curved upward, flashing her shinning teeth.
"It's my birthday." She explained.
"Well happy birthday, Bae. Can I buy you a drink?" She nodded cheekily as her friend approached.
"Oh, this is my friend, Clary." I bobbed my head at her but immediately gave Bae my attention.
"What do you want to drink?" Clary's eyes widened in admiration as she figured out what was happening, and I seen her blatantly check me out. It was as if she couldn't believe what she was seeing.
"Tell your friend to go home early if you'd like to come back to my place." I whispered in Bae's ear awhile later. We'd danced and I touched. A lot. I wasn't sure it was actually going to work, but suddenly Clary was smiling and walking away.
