The first few weeks of lessons flew by, and quidditch try-outs were right around the corner. Astrid woke up to Delilah shuffling about at 6:00am.

"What the bloody hell are you doing awake?" she whispered.

"Quidditch try-outs." Delilah yawned. "I've got to be there before everyone else, they start at 9:00."

"You've still got three hours, that's at least two hours and 50 minutes sleep."

Delilah laughed. "Will I be seeing you down there at 9:00 then?"

"Uhhh, maybe-" Astrid fell back asleep before she could finish.

Delilah chuckled to herself. She was aware none of the other girls in her dorm had any interest in joining the quidditch team, so she headed down to breakfast alone and sat with some of the sixth year boys, a couple of which were on the team last year.

"So, Delilah, what do I need to bribe you with to make the team this year?" Ted Harrison, last year's seeker, asked.

"Skill." Delilah responded, coldly.

There was an outbreak of 'Ohhhhh!' from the rest of the boys, and Delilah laughed to herself. "I'm just kidding, mostly. Unless there's some star second year, you'll be on the team again."

Ted nodded. "Damn right."

Suddenly a swarm of second years came over to their part of the table, asking about Quidditch try-outs.

"What time are the try-outs?"

"Am I allowed to try-out this year?"

"Do I have time to practice before?"

"You know, I'm the best seeker this house has ever seen."

Ted perked up at that last comment.

"Um, excuse me, little one – I think you'll find that spot is reserved."

Another sixth year, Damian Fletcher, interrupted. "Um, Ted, didn't Delilah just say that if there was a star second-year you could be booted off the team?"

"Fuck off Damian." Ted responded, embarrassed in front of the second years. "And that includes you lot – go."

Ted's commanding nature scared all the second years off.

"I hope you haven't scared them off coming to the try-outs later." Delilah said, watching them go.

"I bloody well hope I have." Ted responded.

Astrid made her way out onto the quidditch pitch with the other Ravenclaw girls at around 9:10 - Delilah was just gathering up all the hopeful team members. There was a little under 20 people in total tying out – the majority of which were in their second and third years.

"Ok, welcome to the Ravenclaw quidditch team try-outs. Just before we get started, if you were on the team last year – that does not guarantee you a place on the team this year-" Delilah looked at Ted, "-however, we had a very skilled team last year so don't be surprised if there aren't many new members. Now, I'll be splitting you up into what position you want to play for. Chasers over there, beaters there, keepers there and seekers here. There are six available positions on the team – as one of the chasers is taken by me – so good luck!"

The group broke up and moved into their desired positions. It was quite an even split, except for the group of around six who wanted to try out for seeker – all of which were in their second year, plus Ted, who towered above them. Apart from that, Delilah had 5 chasers, two keepers and four beaters trying out.
