ONE STEP FORWARD,ONE STEP BACKWARD

When Karan woke up, he found himself in his bed. He wondered how he got here. He remembered yesterday's events with Preeta and then with Dianne and Sophia. His memory wasn't clear because there are blanks here and there so he doesn't remember what exactly he told them but his conversation with Preeta he does remember it so well and he's beating himself for it. When he tried to get up, he felt like his head was gonna fall off; he was feeling headache and it was just too much. Luckily for him, his mum was just seated next to him and when she saw that he was awake and having a headache. She gave him some medicine to stop the pain. "Thanks mum", he said and Rahki only nodded. She looked at him and asked what made him drunk yesterday and why?. "Mum please, I don't wanna talk about it". "Did you happen to have bumped into Preeta?", Rakhi insisted. But Karan refused to say anything and instead asked her to leave because he wanted to be alone. As a mother she was worried because just few days back he started smiling, didn't want him to go back to what he was after Preeta had left. She hoped and prayed that her son smiles again soon and be the happy person and enthusiastic person he has always been.

After his mum had left, Karan sat on his bed and folded his hands on his chest and thought about a lot of thinks. Preeta was a constant person he always thought about. He remembered what he did to her and what he told her yesterday and somehow he admitted that he's always caused her pain and suffering. He thought of letting her go since it's something he thinks she wants and he's also convinced that she hates him . "If I let her go, she will be happy , she will be free to choose and maybe find someone else to love and be happy, I have been such a terrible person to her who doesn't deserve her. Yes I should do this", he told himself but then he also remembered what Sophia said that Preeta doesn't hate him and that also that Miles is just a friend. When he thinks about Miles his blood just boils, he's someone who rubs him the wrong way and he doesn't wanna think of him and Preeta in a romantic way. He trashes those thoughts away. His mind shifted to Sophia's words again and thought that even if he may want to let her go, he still sees her as his future. He loves her that much is true and everyone knows it. And a big part of him doesn't want to let her go even though he thinks it's something that would make her happy. After so much thinking and fighting his mind; he came to a conclusion that he doesn't wanna let her go. "In order to win her love and trust, I must start from somewhere but where?", he asked himself and after a few minutes he shouted "yeesssss! I gotta start with this", he stated happily. (We will know about his plan in the upcoming paragraphs). He got out of bed to fresh up and go win the love of his life back.

Preeta left her hotel room very early in the morning to go meet her son who had spent a night at her mother's place, with how things turned out with Karan, she couldn't let her son see her like that. She was missing him and couldn't go to work without seeing and bidding him goodbye; that's how much she loves him. And she's still debating on how she's gonna tell him about his father. She knows he's young and maybe he will be happy to know that his friend 'The Karan Luthra" is actually his dad but she's still scared to tell him. Call her selfish but she doesn't want her son to become close to Karan because she thinks Karan will take him away and she can't bear it. After the outburst between her and Karan, she doesn't think there is any chance between them since he always ruins everything and despite her love for him, she's not gonna fall into his arms again so easily because he's immature and an idiot and right now she's wants to be anywhere but not near him but her son is in the little of everything. Preeta knows she and Karan have issues that may never get resolved yet she doesn't know how she's gonna keep her son away from this shit. Her sweet baby boy doesn't deserve this. She thought of relocating back to the States but she also remembered that she promised Mr. Mahesh that she was gonna let her son get to know his family and she's someone who keeps her word. She only hopes that her son doesn't get affected by her and Karan's problems.

When Preeta reached Sarla's house, she found that they were still sleeping apart from Jhanki who was doing her morning chores. "Your early, aren't you working today?", Jhanki asked and Preeta told her she came to see her son and after she will leave for work. "And besides, I gotta do surgery today so I need some charm from him", Preeta said joking and Jhanki only smiled. She continued staring at her while smiling. So Preeta asked her why she's looking at her like that. "It's just that you've grown so much and became such a strong young woman. I remember that you used to be so fragile and could break easily. But now look at you; your such an important person and and a great mum to your son,  am so proud of you", Jhanki told her. Preeta said "thank you Aunt Jhanki" and then hugged her. And that's how Shrishti found them and said, "Oh wait, I also wanna be part of this hug". The trio hugged each other and it felt like old times. For Jhanki these girls filled the void that she felt when her own daughter passed on years ago. Being with them and taking care of them always makes her happy since she enjoys doing it. Preeta didn't see her son because he was still sleeping so she promised to come back as soon as she finishes that surgery she's gonna carry out today. Preeta also informed them that she has a surprise for all of them but will show them when she's back from the hospital, so she urged them to tell her mum to not go anywhere.
