Class was over. And no one looked at or walked beside me. I walked to my locker which was beside my group's lockers. We stood there gathered together. Aurelia was putting make up. Natasha was searching for something in her locker. Jason was reading a book and Ryder was eating sweets while scrolling in his phone. Sofia finally showed up and stood beside Aurelia. They started talking.
I was writing something and counting, Math. We didn't bother anyone, each one of us was minding their own business. But we don't, when we hear something, we don't like. The people who bothered us. "WHAT?!!!" A girl screamed. We looked at her and stopped when we noticed everyone was looking at me and talking. "Marino?" She said still not realizing her loud voice. I closed my locker. Everyone stopped talking and I heard a gasp.
"Can I help you with something?" I said while turning around. I looked at everyone. They all looked away doing whatever. Then Ryder nodded his head. "Tsk...Starring at others is creepy." He said and closed his phone looking at me. "Yep." I said and put the books in the locker, closing my bag and following him since my next class is with him. Chemistry class. "They've been like that since you stood there giving your back to them. But you didn't notice." He said while walking. "Okay and...?" I said carelessly. I heard him laugh for about a second. "Yeah, anyways so...How are you?" He asked.
"I'm fine." I said simply. "Sure? Even after.... *sighs* .... I know we weren't best buddies but. He didn't deserve to die this early." He said and I gripped on my bag, looking at the floor. "I'm fine. I'll be good after finding whoever caused it." I said and looked at him then straight.
"Yea---Ummm...excuse me?" Ryder got stopped by a young girl who was a junior, her voice was so low sounded like a little girl's voice. He looked at me then her again. I raised an eyebrow when she looked at me, starred at me creepily. She just stood there like. ...
I looked at Ryder. "Yes? What do you want?" I finally said breaking the awkward silence. She looked at me like 'oh' and blinked a few times. "A... Are you really...uhh...Cleo Marino?" She asked. I rolled my eyes then smiled. "Yes." I spoke. "Oh...like THE Marino!?" She asked again. I looked at Ryder and he looked at her with I don't know. Was he angry?
"Yes! Now do you want something?!" He said startling her with his sudden harsh voice. "Uh...uhhh..uh no... No..no..sorry." She said looking at him scared then looked at me and ran away.
We stood there for a minute. "Is this going to happen a lot?" I said looking forward. "Yeah." He said shrugging his arms.
I turned my head to him. And he looked at me. He rubbed his neck looking down then said..."Come on, Cleo. You're famous." He said looking at me unsure of what's my response will be. I crossed my arms and stared at him angry. "Famous for being who? The daughter of a killer. Huh yeah." I said rolled my eyes and walked. Avoiding his shocked eyes. I don't care if he tells him or no. It's a fact and I can't understand how I believed it so fast. But my parents didn't fight for me. Which makes it more real.We reached the class, and I opened the door, forgetting the eyes of students I'll see. "Oh!" The teacher said. I looked at her and the class. Ryder entered beside me and got in. "Class this is the new student...Cleo Ma...Marino." She said nervously. I raised an eyebrow, then Ryder cleared his throat making me look at him. He sat down and I noticed someone behind him.
My heartbeat fastened when I saw his eyes looking at me with a smirk on his face. He looked at his book after that, resting his back on the chair.
Unlike the others, he seemed to be fine and relaxed when the teacher introduced me. As if he already knew who I was.The teacher told me to sit down and when I scanned for a seat there was none.... only one empty chair. That was beside him. I took a deep breath and stood beside the empty seat. I looked at him, and he seemed to be so focused in the book. "Ahem...." I cleared my throat and hit the table with my fingers lightly. He still didn't look at me. Just focused so deeply on the book. "Mhmm?" He hummed, raising an eyebrow and moving his head towards me. "Can I ...uhm..sit?" I asked politely. And he finally decided to look at me. "Sure." He said, removing his bag, and I fake smiled, and sat, taking out my book.
A few minutes later, after the teacher explained a few things, we started doing experiments. I wore my coat, and so did he, I had my back turned to him and doing something in my bag. When I turned to his way, I saw him looking at me. I paused and looked at him. "Uhh..." He wanted to say something, but he rubbed his neck, looking away. I wore my gloves looking at him. "I'm sorry about your boyfriend. And this morning, too." He said, sitting on the chair and looking up at me. I moved an eyebrow up, then down, looking away. I didn't think he'd say that. "He's not my boyfriend." I said coldly and wearing the goggles. I avoided eye contact when he stared at me for a minute. "Look, I know I was annoying, and we didn't meet well, and I'd like to change that...." He said, standing up and wearing his gloves as well. "What do you think?" He said and raised an eyebrow, moving his head with me so I could look straight at him. I was preparing a few samples. I've always been good at chemistry as well as biology, I enjoy studying biology, which always gave me an inspiration to become a doctor.
I left the glass I was holding and looked at him. He smiled and gave me his hand. "I'm Marco Gallon." He said, introducing himself. I looked at his hand and at his smile.
