"The class will be divide into two groups. Group A will defend the statement; heavier objects fall faster than lighter objects, while the other group will oppose it. I'll give you class a hour to present your arguments it must be supported by physics principles and experimental evidence, one representative per group. Hinati kami sa dalawang group, gaya ng inaasahan di kami magka-group ni Baltazar, magiging unfair daw kasi pag magkasama kami sa isang grupo. Ang grupo ko ang mag-defend ng binigay na statement ni maam, well mukhang maganda ang topic. Fair and square lang din naman ang hatian kaya. Lahat ng nasa grupo ko ay may kanya kanyang side.
"Time is up. Group A representative ready for introduction,'' ani ni Maam. Ako ang nagsimula ng introduction namin, kasi nga ako raw leader. "we argue that heavier objects can fall faster po under real world conditions such as our daily observation, a rock reaches the ground po before a feather, this means that mass affects the rate of falling."
Hulaan niyo nalang sino rerebat sa introduction ko. S'yempre ang letcheng kumag sa buhay ko.
"We disagree po ma'am. According to Newton Second Law, the gravitational force on a heavier object is indeed greater. However po, the object inertia also incteases proportionally using force = mass, the mass cancels out, resulting in the same gravitational acceleration for all objects in free fall." Baltazar said.
Yeah may point ang sinabi nya binagsakan ba naman ako ng newton's law. Pero di ako papatalo final performance task namin to eh.
"That explanation assumes ideal conditions. In reality, air resistance exists. A feather experiences a much greater drag force relative to its weight than a rock. Therefore, heavier objects oflen reach than ground first in Earth atmosphere." I said, nagpalakpakan ang mga ka grupo ko habang nagsisigaw ng bawi ang kabilang panig.
"I don't get it, Mr. Da Vinci any basis for this?" tanong ni Baltazar nakangisi ng malaki, pag tama ng tingin namin kinindatan ako ng loko.
"It's written in physics Mr. Lopez. It knows the heavier one gets there first, just like you always arrive first when I ask you I'm going home." saad ko isang ngisi naman ang ganti ni Baltazar.
"Oh put it down!" sigaw ni Nachelle. Na naging kantyawan sa room.
"Words. Ms. Nachelle? Or else you want to see the principal." ani ni Ma'am Acey ang sungit talaga. "proceed, Mr. Lopez."
"We agree that air resistance changes the outcome but that doesnt mean mass itself causes the faster falling. The determining factor po is the ratio between gravitational force and drag force, not simply the object's mass. Nice try, Mr. Da Vinci but the feather is losing because of drag, not because the rock is more special."
