"Ah Lexi! Skylar! There you are, why dont you come over here and meet Laura" Lexi's mother gushes gesturing to a middle aged woman who looks intregued in what she is saying. Lexi rolls her eyes at me quickly adn makes her way over to this Laura woman, I did'nt notice Alex was trailing behind until I heard his footsteps behind me. I give a quick glance ack at him in which he gives me a cheeky smile, that makes me blush immediately.
"Laura, this is my daughter Lexi, this is her friend Skylar, oh hello Alex, Laura I am guessing you know Alex" Paula looks back and forth between the two.
"Yes Mrs. O' Brien, I know Mrs. Whitmore, she is good friends with my mother also." Alex chuckles, creating a fit of laughter from my Paula and Laura.
"Alex, how is colege going?" Laura asks taking a sip of her expensive looking champagne.
"Good, I have my final exams in early June, then i am a fully qualified accountant and can start working full time with my father in the business fro when I take over." Alex explains. The way he talks about this business is so perfessional. You can clearly see he is very serious about the company and his studies. If you took a look at him you would'nt think that. Like I did'nt. It's making me very interested in him, it shows that he can be serious about a topic if he needs to be and I like that. Although I dont want someone who id too serious, just if he has some idea of their future and not ending up like a hobo. If I'm being honest I find it very hot. He is smart, funny and very very handsome. He is also going to be taking over a massive business. What is not to like? You can see that he is inelligent. I mean he has a masters in accounting and business, like the top people have things like that.
"Business and accounting, by God, you're a smart one ar'nt you. Well done. I'm sure you will do great in your exams, if you study hard enough, you can do anything in life." Paula asserts.
"Just make sure certain things or a certain someone for that matter, don't distract you" Laura winks at him then diverts her eyes to me. I immediatley laugh when I hear Lexi laugh beside me. I can already tell my cheeks have gone bright pink.
"I can't exactly promise anything now Laura" Alex answers looking directly at me with a sly smirk. I wink back at him giving him a sly smile also.
"Okay mother, I think Sky and I might take a walk around this hall, it's quite massive, so if you wil excuse us. It was lovely to meet you Mrs. Whitmore" Lexi smiles and shakes her hands once more.
"You too Sweety, please call me Laura. Pauala your daughter is so polite" We can hear Laura gush to Puala as we walk away.
"Nice to know I can be polite and develop manners in a split second" Lexi grins.
Lexi and I walked around for a while by ourselves, Alex must of left after we said goodbye to Puala and Luara because he hasn't turned up in a while. We took more glasses of champagne without Lexi's dad knowing, while the waiter flirts with us. After about an hour of walking around and meeting some people Lexi and I stand and watch people dance in the centre of the floor. I look at them and feel at peace and content with everything. They sway side to side with their husbands. THere is a mixture of ages on it from early thirties to late sixties. I look at them and think that when I grow old and get married, that my love will be eternal like that. These people look at eachother in the eyes adn even I can see the love behind them and I am far away from them. It's like it is radiating off them.
I slowly start to drift off to Harry. I wanted this with him. I wanted love that was going to last and when I kissed him for the first time, I thought I found eternal love, eternal love with him. His lips had you in a trance and it had you locked in. When I looked into his eyes I saw love behind his and I know I felt love behind mine. If he saw that or not is a different story. Obviously not if he cheated on me. His touch. I crave his touch, even now. I keep telling myself that I am over him and I am but I can't stop thinking about him. I just want him to come over and give me a hug with his giant arms and lock me in and keep me safe, making me forget about my worries.
"Would you like this dance m'lady?" Alex snaps me out of my trance placing his hand out. It's only then that I realise its the waltz. I look back into his warm eyes with a hint of nervousness. I place my hand in his as his smile widens.
He guides me out to the floor where more people have gathered. I feel his hand on my waist as I put my hand on his shoulder. We position ourselves correctly, laughing at our mistakes. The music starts as Alex looks into my eyes. In his eyes are beauty, admiration and wonder. His eyes are so beautiful that I couldn't stop staring into them as he nods trying to gain my attention in which we just laugh at.
"You know I have only ever waltzed once before" Alex confesses.
"At my cousins wedding and that was with some seventy year old woman so I dont think that counts considering the fact we were moving less a centimetre per minute" He justifies.I burst into a fit of laughter.
"I do it as a joke when I'm drunk with Lexi" I tell being dead serious.
"You are not joking are you ?"
"Not one bit"
"You know, i thought tongiht would be boring and that it would just be promoting the business but I am really happy I met you Skylar Collins." Alex confesses.
"Im really happy I met you too Alex? I don't know your second name"I laugh.
"Smith, it's Smith" He chuckles back.
"Alex Smith" I say out loud liking the name.
Alex takes a step foward getting real close to me, like chest to chest.
"It sounds a lot better when you say it" He whispers looking at my lips. I decide to test it.
"Oh really, Alex Smith" I say real slow. I didn't even get time to take a breath until he leans in and gives me a soft kiss on the lips. I move my lips back immediately. His lips taste so sweet and I can't stop my lips from moving back to his. I almost sigh when he pulls away.
"I would like to get your number Miss Collins. Then we can go on a date" He instructs. I accidently step on his foot when i move my left leg.
"Oops, what do I get no decision in this matter no?" I ask cheekily.
"Nope" He says popping the 'p' at the end.
"Alright big boy" I say seductivily.
And just like that, the rooms starts to go in slow motion, I look around and see all the happy couples dancing and laughing at their husband thowng them around. The people laughing as they chat to eachother off the dance floor. I see Lexi leaning on a pillar smiling at us as if admiring us. Alex's dad and a man are talking and smiling looking at us. I start looking up at the chandelier above us as Alex and I sway side to side and think. Maybe Alex is my get away. What if what happened between Harry and I was just not meant to be? Alex could be light.
