"Do you feel better kiddo?" Archie asks. Everleigh lies on his chest and runs her little fingers up and down his arm.
"Mhm, all better"
It's Wednesday. Everleigh didn't go to daycare the past couple days but tomorrow she will go back. Archie stays with her.
Veronica has an important test on Friday in one of her classes so she had to go to college. She felt terrible for leaving her little girl but she knew she would be alright with Archie.
"That's great honey. What do you want to do today?" he asks while he runs his fingers through her curly hair.
"When will mommy be home?"
"Around three"
"How long is that?"
"Ev it's only 10 am. It'll take a while"
"I miss mommy" she whispers.
"I miss her too Ev. You know that she will always come back to you right?"
"Mhm"
"Good" he smiles "now back to my question, what do you want to do today?"
"I don't know"
"Mhhh do you want to bake cookies"
"Yeah" she squeals "but can we wait for mommy. I want us to bake all together"
"And what do you want to do until then?"
"Snuggle"
"Okay. We can go to the grocery store though and get all the things we need"
"Can I have a lollipop then?"
"Maybe" he chuckles and kisses the top of her head.

"Mommy!" Everleigh squeals as Veronica walks back into the apartment. She jumps up from the couch, runs to her mom and jumps into her arms. "I missed you"
"I missed you too Ev" Veronica smiles and kisses the girl's cheek. "You seem all better"
"Mhm, nothing hurts anymore"
"That's good"
"Mommy we want to bake cookies" Everleigh grins while she plays with a strand of Veronica's hair.
"Cookies? I don't even know if we have all the ingredients at home"
"We went to the grocery store earlier today" Archie smirks as he approaches the two girls. He takes Veronica's coat out of her hands and picks up her purse from the floor before he leans down for a kiss. "How was your day beautiful?"
"Good but I'm sure it's about to get better" she giggles.
Archie kisses her again before he hangs the coat on the coat hanger. He walks to the living room and places her purse next to the couch. Veronica follows with Everleigh in her arms.
