It was a cool autumn day at Hogwarts. Everyone was outside enjoying the nice weather. Harry was on the quidditch pitch trying to get a little practice in before a match against Ravenclaw. He was worried about his chances considering everyone in the Ravenclaw house seemed confident that their new seeker would win it for them. She caught the snitch in 2 minutes in one of the practice scrimmages. Her name is y/n l/n. She's a fifth year, a year younger than Harry, and she finally decided to tryout for the team. The captain gave her a spot without hesitation given that she caught the snitch in such a quick time.

Harry was flying around the pitch looking for the golden ball. He heard someone clear their throat as if trying to get his attention. He looked down to see a girl with pretty e/c eyes and h/l, h/c hair. She was wearing an overlarge sweatshirt that had blue flames on the bottom hem. He assumed she was wearing shorts underneath but he couldn't tell because the sweatshirt covered them.

"Looking for something?" she asked tossing a golden ball in the air the snatching it back into her hand. Harry realized she must've seen the snitch and as it was flying towards her she grabbed it. He was impressed but he couldn't show it. He didn't want her to think he couldn't do that. He flew down to her level and put his hand out, beckoning for her to give him the snitch. "What do you want Mr. Potter?" she asked innocently still clutching the snitch.

"I would like the snitch please. It is rightfully mine anyway," he answered still beckoning for the snitch.

"You're going to have to earn it," she teased. "Fly 15 laps around the quidditch pitch."

"Why? That's tiring, and I really need some practice with the snitch," he reasoned. He didn't want to come off desperate but that's exactly how y/n took it.

"A little desperate are we?" she got really close to Harry. He started to feel butterflies in his stomach. He felt everything melt away. Her lips grazed his and he was about to lean in when he felt something cold in the palm of his hand. He turned to see the golden snitch but when he looked back to where y/n was standing, she was already gone.

Y/n had gone off to meet her friends in the common room. She couldn't believe that she almost kissed Harry Potter. The Harry Potter. Most girls would want to kiss him but y/n wanted to save it for another day. Considering that the Ravenclaw vs. Gryffindor match is coming up, it's perfect if the chosen one is distracted. Not that she doubted her abilities. No, she thinks she could beat him to the snitch even if he didn't take a liking to her. She just decided to take it to her advantage and use the poor boy's feelings against him. She liked him very much, no doubt about it, but she just didn't have time for boys. But he was different. Maybe she'll give him a chance.

Harry, on the other hand, couldn't stop think of the e/c eyed girl. He could barely focus on the snitch. Whenever he looked at it he thought about how she was able to grab it carelessly. He decided he had enough for the day and changed back into his normal attire. Once he entered the common room, Ron ran towards him and bombarded him with questions like "What's wrong? You weren't doing to well on the pitch earlier!" and "Why couldn't you catch the snitch?" Harry just wanted peace and quiet to sort out the feelings he had been feeling since his encounter with y/n.

He noticed the girl was talking to Ginny on the other side of the common room. They were laughing and joking and just seeing her happy made him smile. "Hey. Hey! HARRY!" Ron screamed waving his hand in front of his best mate's face.

"What?" he replied shortly, slightly upset that Ron interrupted his thoughts.

"You're staring. I don't know at which one, but it better not be my sister. Or your rival seeker. Come on mate! You gotta pull yourself together!" Ron said a little worried his best mate and sister might get together. He shivered at the thought and turned back to Harry. "I was asking if you wanted to play some wizards' chess before I noticed your heart eyes over there." Ron pointed at the three girls who were laughing. Neville walked over to the group and they started laughing even harder at something Neville said. Harry felt a pang of jealousy that Neville is laughing with y/n. He should be over there making her laugh and happy. "So? Wizards' chess?" Ron asked again, this time a little annoyed.

"Actually, I think I'm going to go to bed. The big match tomorrow is really stressing me out," Harry excused himself from the common room and retreated into the boys' dorms. He took a shower and prepared himself for bed. He lay there silent for a couple minutes before the other boys started filing in. He drifted off to bed dreaming about the h/c haired girl.

"RAVENCLAW WINS!" shouted Lee Jordan. The Ravenclaw side of the stands starting cheering like crazy. Harry was so close to the snitch. He was so focused on the golden orb he didn't see y/n fly by and grasp it. He just thought he lost sight of it until he heard Jordan shout who won. This is going to earn him an earful from his team. Especially since he was captain.

"That was a close game, Potter. I thought you had the snitch considering you saw it first. I hope you didn't get in trouble with your team," y/n told him. He just shrugged and left it at that. He started towards the common room before being pulled into an empty classroom.

"Hey Ginny. Why are we in an empty classroom exactly?" Harry asked tentatively.

"I saw you staring at me yesterday. Then your performance today was pretty pathetic, so it's obvious you like me. I figured it out, but don't worry I feel the same way," Ginny responded. She started to lean in and Harry tried to back up but Ginny was too quick. She closed the gap between the two and started to kiss Harry. Harry didn't know what to do. He didn't kiss back and he wasn't able to back away because Ginny had a firm grip on his shoulder.

"Harry? Are you ok? I saw-" y/n cut herself off looking at the scene. Maybe he didn't like her like that. "Um, sorry. I didn't realize you busy eating each other's face," she smiled a sad smile and walked out of the room. Harry was boiling with anger now. Enough anger to push off the clingy red head and run out into the hallway. He saw the h/c haired girl on the verge of tears. She kept reminding herself she doesn't need boys to feel wanted. That was enough to collect herself and pretend nothing happened.

Harry was able to catch up to y/n but this time when he looked at her she seemed normal again. This confused him, but he knew that wasn't where his worries were at the moment. "Hey y/n? I just want you to know that I don't like Ginny like that. She thought I was staring at her but-" he was cut off by a pair of lips attached to his own. At first, he was startled and didn't do anything. Once he realized what was happening he immediately kissed back. Y/n pulled away and laughed a little.

"I know," was all she said before she disappeared around the corner.
