You was on your first break from practice the next day and Joshua had texted you, notifying you that he was in the cafeteria. Thank god, you were starving. You told the others and left them to eat lunch alone.

You spotted Joshua instantly when you reached the canteen. He was sitting on a table, his attention glued to his phone so he didn't notice you approaching him. "Hey." You spoke, making him look at you and put his phone down.

He stood up and greeted you with a tight hug, "I brought you an iced latte." He gestured to the drink in front of your seat.

"Thank you." You sat down and began sipping your coffee.

"You wanted to speak?" He said, you were the only thing his focus was now on.

You cleared your throat. The words were on the tip of your tongue, but the refused to leave your lips.

Joshua reached a hand over the table and placed it neatly over yours, but it didn't give you any more comfort. "Y/n?"

"I'm ready to answer your question." You eventually blurted out

His smile brightened up the nervous atmosphere, but again, you didn't feel any less scared. "Sure. What is it?"

You couldn't even look at him, you didn't know what he was going to say. "I can't be your girlfriend."

You closed your eyes, expecting him to remove his hand from yours and start shouting, but none of that happened. He glared at you sweetly, no trace of anger in his expression.

When you opened your eyes again, you could see the waves of kindness radiating from him. He was the most purest person you've ever met. Although you just rejected him, his attitude didn't change. "It's okay." He said.

"I'm sorry."

His gentle chuckle warmed your heart. "Don't apologise. To be honest, I was expecting this." His hand finally left yours and fiddled with his drink.

"You were?"

He nodded, "I know you care for me, just as I you. But I also know you have feelings for someone else."

Huh? "No, no, no. You've got it all wrong. I like you, but I just can't be your girlfriend. I have no feelings for anyone else."

Joshua looked at you as if he knew your biggest secret. "You can't lie to me, Y/n. But you can lie to yourself."

"I have no idea where you have gotten this idea from, Joshua Hong. But you've never been more wrong."

He hummed in response, "So it is true." He didn't elaborate.

"What is?" You questioned.
