You and Mingyu sat in your seats, opposite each other as you ate your food

You and Mingyu sat in your seats, opposite each other as you ate your food. You shared a hot pot and ordered a coke each. You were relieved that you were finally were getting some food into your system, you hadn't even eaten breakfast that morning.

By all means, sharing a meal together while in public was a risky choice. Dispatch didn't take a break after all. But once the news would be released about the single, all rumours would be put to a rest.

"You looked pretty good today." Mingyu complemented, trying to cover up his smirk by putting a spoonful of soup in his mouth.

You lifted your chopsticks and pointed them at him, "Stop teasing me."

He chuckled at you while putting his hands up in surrender, "I promise, I wasn't. Is it so hard to believe that I'm actually being genuine?"

"Yes. Everything that comes out of your mouth is a dig at me."

"It's not." He grinned.

You glared at him, signifying that he's treading on eggshells.

"Okay fine. I'm sorry, Princess."

"And stop calling me that." You pouted.

"You really don't like being complemented do you?"

"I do. But every time you say something nice to me, it sounds like you're joking."

"But I'm not. I mean everything I say. Even how sexy you looked earlier."

"Maybe you should just stop talking."

"Aren't you gonna tell me how good I looked." He pretended to flick his imaginary long hair back.

"Nope." You replied bluntly, sipping your soup.

"And you say I'm the mean one." He sulked. "You're still so cold to me. Even after everything we've been through."

The truth was, you didn't want to get too close. You had a secret. And you intended to keep it, especially from Mingyu. You were afraid that if you got too close, you would spill the beans, thinking that you can find solace in him.

"I'm not cold. This is just my personality." You shrugged.

"You weren't like this 4 years ago."

You leaned your cheek on the palm of your hand as you gazed at him. "What was I like then?" You were genuinely curious about what he thought about you.

He sat back and crossed his arms, looking as if he was deep in thought. Both of you ditched your meal for the meantime. "You were hardworking and smart, just like how you are now. But back then, you had a certain glow about you. I know it sounds weird, but although you were stressed, you were really joyful and you seemed as if you had your whole life ahead of you. But..." he paused for a moment. "But now it seems like your trapped in a world that you don't want to be in."

Mingyu's words hit you hard, as it proved to you that he cared. He observed you enough to manage to understand your feelings although you never spoke them aloud. It was like he was telepathic and read your thoughts. You didn't really know how to reply, resulting in a long lingering silence.

"I sound like a creep." Mingyu chortled before digging back into the meal.

You sat still, watching him with gazing eyes. Your stomach tickled and your heart started beating faster. You weren't expecting it to happen, but you were beginning to develop feelings for the man sitting opposite you, the man who changed your life. You had no choice but to deny those feelings and push them aside. There was no way that you were allowing yourself to go down that route, you restricted yourself from going any further.

"Y/n?"

"Oh-uh, sorry. I just spaced out." You laughed nervously. "And I don't think you're a creep. If anything, I'm grateful."

He smacked the air, "stop, you're making me shy." He joked. "Now eat up before I have the rest." He tapped your side of the pot.

You asked Mingyu to drop you off at the company because you wanted to work for the rest of that night. There were a lot of preparations still needed before the release.

Hoshi had suggested a dance break version, so that's what you were planning to finish tonight. You needed it as soon as possible, you wanted to surprise Hoshi with it.

Mingyu refused at first. He insisted that you should go home and rest since you had another full schedule tomorrow. But your stubbornness won him over.

When you got to the studio, you brought out your laptop from your bag and set it up.

An hour or so went by and you were struggling to say the least. Your eyes were failing you. You kept on dosing in and out of slumber. You began slamming your head on the heel of your palm. "Stay awake, Y/n. You need to do this for Hoshi and Mingyu." You told yourself repeatedly. "If you stop, then you're just a failure."

In the corner of your eye, you felt your bag staring at you, more so what was inside. Of course you were hesitant, but it wasn't enough. You grabbed your bag and dug through the front pocket until you brought out the box of pills. Your eyes lingered on them for a moment before hurriedly taking a couple out and swigging them down your throat. You quickly shoved them away and threw your bag back on the couch as if nothing happened.

You shook your head and warmed up your voice for no particular reason, before continuing your work, erasing your mind from your previous actions. It's only to keep you awake for a few more hours. That's it.
