"Hey, you okay?" Mingyu asked as he drove back to Seoul.
Your emotions were riddled with grief and guilt. You felt sorrow towards the family that had adopted Minhyung, but also gratitude. From what you were told, the child lived a happy life with amazing people, you couldn't have asked for anything better, it's exactly what you wished for when you chose to give him away. You chose not to feel bad. Both of you received closure that day; closure you didn't know you needed, closure that brought you closer together.
You nodded to him, a faint but genuine smile painted on your lips. "Yeah. What about you?"
"I'm not gonna lie to you, I'm devastated." You lowered your head slightly, too ashamed to look at him, until you felt his grip on your leg, his thumb stroking the rough material of your jeans. "But I'm also happy."
You glance up at him, his focus was on the road.
He continued, "If it wasn't for you, that baby wouldn't have grown up with a loving family. As much I would have loved to raise him, We couldn't have given him what he deserved."
Content replaced all of those doubtful thoughts. "He looked exactly like you." You said softly.
His adored smile made an appearance as you spoke. "He would have grown up to be a handsome man."
"You're right." You replied shyly.
Mingu's mind was also restless as many thoughts bugged him. When he glanced at you, he noticed how the huge weight had been lifted of your shoulders. You'd kept this to yourself for so long and he felt bad that you thought he'd leave you because of it. Then he thought to your parents. They chose to disown you because of his silly mistake, and now they're probably living without knowing the amazing woman you've grown to be.
He peaked a look at you before cautiously asking. "Have you ever thought of contacting your parents."
Your whole body tensed. You nervously chuckled, "That was really random. Why do you ask?"
"Now that you're in contact with Soobin, I thought it would be ideal to speak to them, prove to them that you aren't the failure they presume you to be."
You pondered on his words for a moment. How would they react if they saw you again? Will they see you off again? Or will they feel glad that they get to see their daughter. But things were different now. You're no longer the naive teenage girl who was struggling to get through college, you were now a successful idol with real goals in life. Maybe they would be proud. But you don't think you could face them alone. "If I did, would you come with me?"
"Of course."
A loud sigh left your lips when he agreed. This was either going to go either really good or terribly bad. "I'll call my brother later and ask for their number."
He dropped you off at Woozi's studio and got out of the car as you did. You looked back at him in confusion. "Do you have work?" You asked.
He simply shook his head and started to walk beside you. "I'll walk you."
