A Hero's Journey - Mysterion's Story

Chapter 13

Mysterion couldn't see Yui, but he bet she was probably smiling,

Mysterion walked over to the kitchen where he found his friends snarfing down on leftover food.

"You guys are disgusting" Mysterion said taking a seat with them.

"You have to try this, whoever made this is a really good cook," Mosquito said with a full mouth offering him a piece of buttered bread

"I think I'll pass. Anyways' there going be a change of plans," Mysterion said pushing the piece of bread away politely.

After Mysterion told them about having to get items to defeat The Ruthless Fox, Yui told him their next destination and they took off.

"So this place is going to have alligators and water snakes?" Mosquito asked.

"What are you scared?" said Super Craig laughing out loud.

"WHAT! No of course not, I was just wondering, and if anything they should be scared of me!" Mosquito said crossing his arms.

"Well since were in Amaranth this place might have different creatures, but since the place is a swamp, the animals will probably be similar to that," Mysterion answered.

They had to scoop some of the water in a giant oak tree located in a swamp, the water was special water called "" It could make whoever drank it tell the truth about anything. They needed this so if they ran into anyone, they could spill the whereabouts of where the Kingdom of Kieto was. The Kingdom of Kieto used to be ruled by Prince Sinou, but then The Ruthless Fox took over it. Only the people who lived there knew where it was. It had started getting foggier the farther they went, and at this point Mysterion and his friends couldn't see each other very well.

"Um, you guys? I think I stepped on something wet," Super Craig said nervously.

"I think I did too," Mosquito said in agreement.

Mysterion had also felt it too, they must have stepped in some swamp water.

"We have to close to each other, there might be animals that are hungry, so we have to hurry" Mysterion said grabbing Super Craig and Mosquito's arms.

"Keep walking forward then you'll see a giant tree, there's most likely some Alikapi near there, so we'll have to go around," Yui advised.

"What are Alikapi?" asked Mysterion still holding on to his allies' arms.

Suddenly, Super Craig and Mosquito started bolting for it, dragging Mysterion with them.

"OW, what the heck, why are you guys running?" Mysterion asked while still being dragged across the damp floor.

He looked behind them and found that 5 creatures were running after them, they looked like alligators but had zebra like marking on their backs, and instead of having bumpy skin, the creatures had fur.

"Those are Alikapi," Yui said calmly.

Mysterion had caught up with them running at the same pace. He looked at the oak tree and saw an entrance near the middle of the tree.

"CAN YOU GUYS SWIM?" Mysterion shouted.

"YES" Mosquito shouted back.

"NO BUT I CAN FLY" yelled Super Craig.

"CAN YOU GUYS CLIMB?" Mysterion shouted.

The Alikapi were gaining on them, they had to move faster or else they would become lunch.

"NO I CAN'T" Mosquito yelled.

Mysterion got an idea, a very good idea. He yelled it to them, his friends understood what they needed to do,

"READY, NOW" Mysterion hollered when they got near the muddy lake.

Mysterion and Mosquito swam as fast as they could to get to the center of the muddy lake were the Oak tree was, while Super Craig flew there, the Alikapi swam fast trying to catch up to them. Then Mysterion and Mosquito got of the lake. Mosquito climbed onto Super Craig's back and then they flew up to get to the entrance and Mysterion started to climb the tree he almost was to the entrance, but the Alikapi had reached the center too, they couldn't climb but they could jump, and one of they jumped high enough to grab Mysterion's leg.

"ARGH," Mysterion yelled.

The Alikapi's grip was powerful, Mysterion tried to kick the Alikapi off, but it was too strong. He would have grabbed the sword, but he had given Super Craig his bag with the sword in it. Mysterion had grabbed a branch to his left, but it was starting to break. There was one more branch he could hang onto that was on his high right side. Mysterion tried reaching for the branch but the Alikapi's weight was making it hard for him. Just a little higher... Mysterion thought while trying to climb up to the branch. The Alikapi gripped his leg fiercer this time. Mysterion flinched, the pain was starting to get to him.
