A Hero's Journey - Mysterion's Story

Chapter 16

     Mosquito and Super Craig both looked surprised and so did the man,

"You'll have to untie us first," the man spat.

"You actually trust them?" Mosquito asked in disbelief.

Super Craig went over to Mysterion and helped untie them.

"Not you too" Mosquito whined.

"Have a little faith in our captain," Super Craig said trying to imitate Mosquito.

After the man and woman got untied, the man walked over to the other side and sat down, the woman followed him. Mysterion and Super Craig sat in front of them, Mosquito sighed in defeat and walked over to where they were and took a seat.

"I'm the one and only...Ikari!" the man said while waving his arms in the air enthusiastically.

"This is Eisu," Ikari said pointing to the woman.

Eisu waved her hand. Mysterion asked them why they kidnapped him, Ikari explained that he and Eisu were also on their way to get the key too, because they needed to get to Headquarter to get files. Mysterion had also told them that they needed to get files too.

"Why do you need to get the files?" Mosquito asked.

"We need to get papers about the general, in the files there should be some," Ikari answered.

"Why did you retire?" Super Craig questioned.

"Well I was forced into the army when I turned 18, and then I met Eisu there. We both wanted to leave desperately, but both of us stayed in the army for 2 years until we gained the general's trust, we and some other people were assigned a mission in Osaka, but we ran away when we got the chance" Ikari explained.

"Why do you give hand signals to Eisu? Are you making plans to trick us?" Mosquito asked bluntly.

"No, actually I forgot to tell you that Eisu is mute, so even though I can just talk to her, it's easier for me to use sign language to communicate with her" Ikari said.

"Hmph, still seems suspicious," Mosquito said heading over to his sleeping bag.

Mysterion turned over to Ikari.

"You still haven't told us how you'll benefit us," Mysterion said sharply.

Ikari grabbed a burger from his bag and said,

"I have these wicked cool battle moves and can work well with any weapon," Ikari said posing battle moves with his burger as a fake sword.

Eisu looked at Ikari like he was an idiot, tugged his arm, and signed something to him.

"Oh yeah, Eisu can move fast, like wicked fast. She also is awesome with a bow and arrow, but I think I'm a bit cooler if I do say so myself," Ikari said with a full mouth.

Eisu smacked the back of Ikari's head and signed to him.

"Ow, I mean yeah we should get resting," Ikari said wiping his mouth.

Everyone had gone to bed, and Mosquito had put Ikari and Eisu's weapons far away from them to make sure they wouldn't try anything. Mysterion had fallen asleep faster than usual, he did have a long day after all. He appeared in that world again, where there was the cherry blossom tree, the small pond, and pitch black world. He sat in front of the pond this time and said,

"Hey Yui, do you think I made the right choice?"

"Well that is your decision to make, I think they benefit you with their abilities, and I do not foresee any betrayals in the future," Yui replied.

Mysterion thought deeply, what if they are just leading him and his friends into a trap, Yui may have said that she didn't see any betrayals in the future, but she also told him that she couldn't see every single future choice, so Ikari and Eisu betraying them could just be a future Yui wasn't able to see. Mysterion opened his eyes and took a deep breath in and out. Suddenly, he saw a small beautiful butterfly fly in circles around him. Mysterion stuck out his finger and the butterfly landed on it. Everyone deserves a chance, though right? Ikari certainly didn't seem dangerous, but since Eisu was mute Mysterion didn't really know a lot about her, tomorrow I'll get to know them better, and they will have to try to earn my trust then, Mysterion thought. The butterfly flew away landing on a lily pad in the pond.

"Made up your mind yet?" Yui asked.

Mysterion got up and replied with a yes.

Mysterion had blinked and the sun shone in his eyes, he had woken up. Mysterion noticed that all the other sleeping bags were empty. He heard clashing outside the cave, so he grabbed his sword and ran out to find that Ikari and Mosquito were battling each other.
