A Hero's Journey - Mysterion's Story

Chapter 10

There was complete silence for a couple moments.

"I know your there Yui, you said you'd teach me so do it" Mysterion said sternly.

"You're a sassy one" Yui replied with a chuckle.

"What is that supposed to mean?" he asked still in his stern voice.

"I've been a mentor for 5 years, and through all of it I've never met a mentee as bold as you," Yui said while laughing.

"Just tell me what I need to do" Mysterion said calmly.

"Well, you can't fight without weapons, right? So you'll have to guide your friends to the city around here," Yui responded.

"Alright then, lead the way" Mysterion replied.

Mysterion went back to the cave where he found that his friends were still sleeping. He woke them up and told them about Yui, and that they needed to find weapons. So they packed up and headed to the city Yui told him about. The sun was out, but there were still clouds seen in the air, and it was a bit cold, Amaranth was beautiful in the day but in the night, it looked absolutely like a horror movie scene. Mysterion had to admit that he was scared, but he didn't say it out loud, he didn't show his fear either. No matter what Yui said, he's their leader and he wouldn't want to appear as weak in front of his friends.

"URGHH we've been walking for a long time now, are you sure this Yui is telling the truth?" Mosquito complained.

"I'm sure we're almost there," Mysterion said, but he wasn't completely sure to be honest.

"Now we just have to climb that hill," Yui spat.

Mysterion looked in front of him and widened his eyes, the hill was almost as tall as the Coast redwood tree, and you wouldn't be able to go around the hill, because it stretched a very long distance.

"You've got to be kidding me" Mysterion whispered.

"I kid you not, now we must hurry we don't have all day," Yui replied.

"Mysterion are you ok? Was Yui talking to you again?" Super Craig said floating back down.

Mysterion sighed then pointed to the grassy hill in front of them.

"Don't tell me we have to...no, No, NO" shouted Mosquito.

Mysterion walked toward the grassy hill, sighing. Mosquito stood for a while, sighed in defeat, and walked gloomily toward the hill. Super Craig noticed the moody atmosphere and knew what to do to fix it.

"Hey, you guys I bet I can run to the top of the hill first," Super Craig said floating down.

"Stop trying to motivate me Craig," Mosquito said grumbling.

Mysterion grunted in agreement with Mosquito. Super Craig knew exactly what to say to make them run, so he walked past them then said,

"I guess you guys are just too cowardly to admit that I'm the best!" then Super Craig ran for it.

Mysterion and Mosquito both shot up their heads up at him,

"I'M NOT A COWARD" they both shouted and then ran after him.

They had reached the top of the hill and they all were panting and out-of-breath. They all had come in a tie, but Super Craig claimed he was first.

"It's not fair you had a head-start," Mosquito wailed.

"Oi it's not my fault your slow" said Super Craig, who was now lying on the grassy top.

Then they all started laughing, Mysterion had say that this was one of the best moments in his life. Having fun with his friends and seeing them smile, that's all Mysterion ever wanted. He wished that this moment could last forever, but all things have to come to an end... well except for him.

"I hate to ruin the moment but look in front of you," Yui spoke.

Mysterion heard the laughter die off, and then he saw why, in front of him was the city.
