A Hero's Journey - Mysterion's Story

Chapter 14

                                        Then there was a blast that shot the Alikapi. Mysterion looked up it was Mosquito. He had used one of his ranged attacks and shot the Alikapi right in the forehead. The Alikapi screeched and let go, leaving behind a thick and jagged bloody scar on Mysterion's leg. Super Craig flew both of them into the entrance of the Giant Oak tree, and they all sat there panting and trying to breathe, since they were up so high, there wasn't much oxygen.

"T-thanks," Mysterion said trying to catch his breath.

"Don't mention it," Super Craig said while smiling.

Mosquito scooched closer to Mysterion and grabbed his leg.

"Argh! Ow what are you doing?" Mysterion said wincing at the pain.

"I'm going to heal it duh," Mosquito replied.

Now that Mysterion got a better look at it, the scar tore through the edge of his pants, and it looked more like a gash than a scar, it was still bleeding like crazy though. Mosquito put his hand on the bleeding wound, the gash glowed and then it magically disappeared like it was never there to begin with.

"Thanks Mosquito," Mysterion said looking up.

"No problem," Mosquito said in between a yawn.

Mysterion saw that the under Mosquito's eyelids, it started getting darker. Maybe healing people drains some of his energy, so I have to stop getting hurt more often Mysterion thought while getting up.

"Hey, you guys come check this out" Super Craig shouted from below.

The two friends realized that Super Craig had left, they found his footprints leading to tunnel deeper in the tree, Mysterion and Mosquito entered the tunnel. The ground level was not leveled up equally so you could slip and fall if you weren't careful, which is exactly what Mysterion and Mosquito did. When they had reached the bottom, they were both covered in dirt and mud on their pants. Mysterion got up wiping the mud of his pants, when he looked up his eyes shone in amazement. The place looked like the center of a throne room, the walls were white with gold markings, the platform was plated with streaks of gold and silver, and there were beautiful chandeliers hanging from the wall which all connected to one huge one right in the center. In the middle of the place, he found Super Craig squatting down looking at something. Mysterion and Mosquito both walked over to him. He could now see that Super Craig was looking at a small, clear, light pink pond. Mysterion guessed it must be the Veritaserum. He bended down and grabbed a vial from his bag, he filled the vial with the pink water.

"Don't overfill it," Yui advised him.

"Oh gee Yui, you were so helpful back there when I was about to die," Mysterion said sarcastically.

"But you didn't die, so win-win, now we must get going to the next place" Yui stated.

Mysterion looked over at the tunnel where they came from it was getting dark, he looked over at his watch, it was 7:42.

"We should rest here for the night, it's getting pretty dark and there still might be some Alikapi lurking around," Mysterion said firmly.

"Finally some sleep," Mosquito said setting up his sleeping bag.

"Alright, but we must leave quickly first thing in the morning," Yui said sighing.

They had eaten some Instant Noodles for dinner, and now were lying in their sleeping bags. It was a very silent night, except for Mosquito's loud snoring. Mysterion couldn't sleep with this much noise, he wondered how Super Craig had fallen asleep while Mosquito was snoring. He looked over to the pond, it was still as peaceful as ever, he looked at the ripple of each small wave. Then his eyes slowly drifted shut. He was at that place again with the cherry blossom tree, but now there was a small pond, it was like the Veritaserum, but it was clearer. The world still was pitch black though.
