A Hero's Journey - Mysterion's Story

Chapter 27

         Ikari and the others froze in surprise, then Ikari started running after him, but Mysterion grabbed Ikari's arm before he could run after him.

"Aoi kept his promise and led us here, we shouldn't run after him, that would delay our journey" Mysterion said sternly.

Mysterion let go and then walked towards the palace, they followed him in silence. There were guards in front of the palace. Ikari and Eisu walked in front of Mysterion and his friends.

"Just follow our lead," Ikari whispered while walking to the guards.

Mysterion and his friends stood from a distance, while Ikari was talking with the guards, then Eisu signed the guards and pointed to Mysterion. Then both of the guards busted out laughing and then the guard to the left slapped Ikari. There was a long pause of silence before Eisu knocked out both of them. Ikari waved both is arms up signaling them to come, they all ran into the palace, Mysterion was surprised that there wasn't a gate or anything to block them out. Mysterion heard guards shouting from the gatehouse above them. Mysterion and his allies had reached the inner bailey of the palace, he could hear the guards getting closer.

"THERE" Mosquito shouted pointing to door onto the left side of the building.

They ran to the door hoping it was opened, but it was locked as Mysterion would expect. Mysterion grabbed the pin from his bag and tried picking at it. He could hear even more guards yelling now.

  Click, he unlocked it and went in and his friends followed him, then he locked the door quickly.

 Mysterion turned around and froze in surprise. He could see workers yelling orders, people cooking dishes, frying food, and washing plates. They were in the kitchen. Mysterion could see that his allies had realized it too, Eisu spotted an exit not too far away them, she pointed to it and they walked quickly to it, lowering their heads, making sure no one would take notice of them. They were halfway to reaching the exit, but then a voice stopped them.

"HEY! Where do you think you are going?" the voice yelled.

They stood still, and Ikari slowly turned his head. He saw a woman who Ikari guessed was the chef, because of the hat.

"Dinner is supposed to be ready in least than 15 minutes, you five get the Gnocchi Skillet with chicken sausage and tomatoes prepared!" the chef ordered.

"Uh you see we can't- "Ikari started to say.

"CAN, we'll get it prepared in no time" Mysterion said shoving Ikari out of the way.

The chef looked at Mysterion and his friends in suspicion then walked away, yelling at other workers around. Mysterion had absolutely no idea what the lady just told them to make, but they did need to poison the Ruthless Fox right? This would just give them more of an advantage. Mysterion whispered his plan to his friends and they got to work instantly. After a few minutes, Ikari, Mosquito and Super Craig had created a dish that looked burned and mushed up, while Eisu and Mysterion had made a dish that looked exactly like the one in the cookbook. The dishes were being carried to the feast The Great Hall, which is basically used as a dining room. Mysterion insisted to take care of the drinks as he was walking through the halls, he "accidentally" tripped and spilled the drinks.

"OH I am so very sorry I shall take care of this right away" Mysterion said getting up.

The chef looked like she was about to yell at him, but then a worker called her. The chef told Mysterion to hurry up and then she left. Mysterion ran back to the kitchen, his friends had gone to serve the dishes onto the dining table and so had the other worker, so he was by himself. Mysterion went to the cabinet and searched for cups.
