"YOU DON'T NEED TO FOLLOW ME EVERYWHERE, YOU KNOW."

Loki glanced from the garden he was acting preoccupied with to look down at his daughter, who was sitting beneath a tree, lazily skimming a book. She slept for a few hours after her first waking up, but shortly after her quick nap, she could not stay inside. She fought Loki on this for hours - during the healers' visit, during the meal that Dagny brought her, even in front of Frigga.

And Frigga, for possibly the first time in Eva's life - agreed.

"Loki, it would do the girl good to get some fresh air."

With Eva and Frigga on the same side, Loki didn't stand a chance.

Now, the two of them lingered in the garden, Eva with her mother's GRIMM book in her hand.

"I beg to differ," Loki noted as his eyes turned away from Eva's rolling ones to glaze over the garden. "I think if I leave you alone for a moment, you'll find a way to harm yourself."

The young girl thought back to the night before - the Jotun soldier, the Blakkr, Anna. She remembered the feeling of nauseous and the way the energy drained from her with every use of magic.

Eva narrowed her eyes and scrunched her nose. "I never do it purposely."

Loki narrowed his eyes down at her. "Is that supposed to be reassuring?"

"I do not need a security detail, father," Eva whined after a moment. "I promise I won't find myself in any trouble."

"I might believe that if you weren't my child," Loki noted, turning to her, and glancing down at the book in her hand. His eyebrows raised, just slightly. "Are you truly enjoying that book?"

Settling the spine in her lap, Eva quipped, "Would I be permitted to read a book on magic?"

"Absolutely not."

Lifting the book again, Eva said, "Then it's thrilling. Enough."

Loki turned away to let out a small smile and noticed two approaching figures. He turned to tell Eva, but she was already looking up from the rim of her book and smiling pleasantly.

"The father-daughter duo," she muttered, and Loki sent her a warning look as the two blondes approached. Eva peered up at Loki, asking, "Do you think they're a better team than us?"
