THE FITTING WAS LONG, GRUELING, AND CRUEL - AND TO TOP IT ALL OFF, EVA DID NOT GET A PURPLE DRESS.
She tried not to take it personally, really, but the fact that Frigga had "invited" her to a fitting but then had chosen the shape, style, fabric, and color of the dress was slightly agitating.
Frigga could sense the irritation in the child, and soothingly explained that gold for royalty was necessary and that the blue and gold weren't just colors; they were connected to her mother.
"These were the colors of the Valkyrie," Frigga told her, her palm running down the fabrics and layering that the seamstress had presented. "Sigyn was the leader of the Valkryie. That's how the people knew her."
Eva recalled the army that Thor had told her about. "My mother was the leader?"
Frigga nodded. "Her and the women she led brought hope to Asgard. The Valkyrie had never seen a more golden era than with Sigyn at their lead."
After that, Eva said nothing in regards to the color or style; she felt strangely guilty that she had even wanted purple when there was a bigger picture she hadn't had a clue of.
(And had Loki really not mentioned that? What exactly was priority in his "to mention" list?)
It had been around three hours of poking and prodding, but Eva didn't mind that much because she had never been fitted for anything before Asgard, and it made her feel important.
Though Frigga had done most of the instruction, choosing the shape and the neckline, Eva was still content with the ending sketches of the dress, and though she would never admit her, she was excited about the festival.
Sure, she was Eva Lokison - brooding, strong, mischievous - but Eva was a girl, and it was widely accepted for girls to enjoy dresses.
She wasn't only going to be a princess - now she was going to look like one.
After the fitting, Dagny was sent down to the servant quarters, and Eva didn't get a moment with her, but she expected that she had many chances in the future, and instead made her way somewhere else.
To her deal with Frigga - she got fitted, she got to have a lesson to retrieve her memory. Frigga was still cautious but caved within a few pleads.
Loki was seated when Eva made her way to the library.
"Frigga's not here yet," Eva noted as she slipped into the room, letting the door stay ajar as she met eyes with Loki, who had shaken his head in response.
"She won't be coming," he informed, standing as Eva approached him, and Eva watched this warily, trying not to be too irritated.
Frigga had promised her this. It was a part of Eva's agreement to a dress fitting for the party - she must be allowed at least one more try before the party to recapture her memories. Even the smallest amount could make a difference.
