SIGYN ALWAYS USE TO TELL EVA THAT HER MAGIC WAS GOING TO GET HER IN A HEAP OF TROUBLE.

The warrior had seen the effects of magic on people of all kinds and witnessed the manipulation of power it led to. She saw the hate and misery it could cause.

And she wanted none of that potential near her daughter.

Nonetheless, she knew it was one of the only ways that Loki could truly connect with Eva, so she let it be their little secret.

But there were times when Sigyn would catch Eva dabbling with some serious, intense magic - and she worried.

"Don't play with things you don't understand," Sigyn would tell her. "You will go too far one day, Eva, and you'll regret it."

Eva was like, what, seven? She had a god for a dad and a partial goddess warrior woman mother, and she was invincible. Eva Lokisdittor had literally nothing to fear at seven years old.

But things change, and now Eva Lokisdittor really wished she headed her mother's warning, because once again, Eva was trapped in her own body, watching from the passenger seat as the Blakkr interacted with her father.

Eva had to give props to Loki, though - he'd gotten fairly used to the whole "possessed" and "dark magic" thing she had going. At first, she thought that it was going to be a lot harder for him to comprehend - considering the fact that when she woke up the first time, she was herself. For a second. She looked right at Loki, and opened her mouth to exclaim, "Father, help!"

But then her eyes bled to black and the Blakkr said, "Oh lovely. Have I taken your old residence in the cells?"

Loki blinked at her. She could see his expression fall.

"Like father like daughter!"

As much as the Blakkr was very much present in her, the dynamic had changed. Eva was still unable to control her movements or actions, but her thoughts were completely hers. That death/Hel world thing? The Blakkr couldn't get there. Or maybe it could, and it was just distracted by Loki's involvement.

So whenever the Blakkr took over and talked to Loki, who had taken residence outside of her cell 24/7, Eva got to sneak off to the parts of her brain.

Which, lately, were looking a lot less like abysses, and more like places to fight.

The Blakkr had put a system in her head. She had to fight to exist now. They were puzzles, layers - places. Eva felt like there was an entire world in her head.

And whenever she slipped into her subconscious, she knew she was facing death. She was in a forest now. There were these animals, for one thing - and yes, she knows it's in her mind or whatever, but these wolves were real.

And the forest they were chasing her in? Felt even more real.

But she could only venture off when the Blakkr was completely entertained by Loki.

And it was starting to seem like Loki knew that. Because he entertained this horrid thing and he had yet to lose his temper - which is like, hats off to you, dad! but also, shouldn't you want to murder this thing, dude? Help me out here.

But he was helping Eva out. He distracted the Blakkr to let her fight, and to ensure she rested, that she didn't go to waste in her own mind, Loki treated the Blakkr like she really was Eva.

After a grueling two hour conversation with the Blakkr, that real Eva had spent running through a forest, trying not to die, Loki turned away from the cell. "Go to bed," Loki directed.

The Blakkr blinked up at him, irritation clear on her face. From within the depths of her mind, Eva pushed forward, forward - until she was out of her own scenarios and back in the passenger seat.

"I don't need sleep," she laughed off, rolling her eyes as the black veins pulsed against her white skin.

"You might not," Loki agreed, but then glanced down to the paling skin of Eva's hand. For a moment, it flashed blue. Her body was losing grip on it's magic.

But then it was back to normal. "She needs rest," Loki told the Blakkr. "Your powers will be affected by her fatigue."

Eva wasn't really sure if that was true, and Loki was the god of lies, so no help there - but the Blakkr felt pretty convinced by it. Eva wondered if the Blakkr was feeling a loss of power and if Eva could turn... just for a moment -

She brushed the thoughts away, in case the Blakkr could suspect them.

"Will you let her speak to me?" Loki asked. His tone was stoic, and his face expressionless, but Eva's heart wrenched for just a second. She knew she totally blew the chances of temporary take-over after the whole Frigga thing that landed her in here, but there was nothing she wanted more to tell her dad she was sorry.

Not for the wreaking havoc thing. Or the attacking sister thing. Or the nearly murdering grandmother. That was just pretty much Eva's MO. Eva just felt pretty bad about the whole possession thing. She mostly felt bad because she'd failed to listen to her mother's warnings, but it's not like she remembered them before this happened. And Sigyn was dead - you can't apologize to the dead.

"No," the Blakkr denied with a harsh expression. "She betrayed me."

Loki's jaw clenched, but just for a moment. He traded the action for a raise of his eyebrows, "Ah," he played, "so there are loyalty when you possess another?"

The Blakkr rolled her eyes. Eva didn't know if Loki was going to leave - he hadn't, for the last few days. He hadn't left her side, and even though she only saw him in the brief moments between fighting and sleep, it had been comforting.

Eva didn't care how weak it sounded - she did not want to be alone with the Blakkr. What if she...gave in?

The thought rushed through her like a strike of lightening. She couldn't give up - she knew that. But it didn't change the fact that she was so tired...

"Fine," the Blakkr agreed, and Loki tried to hide his surprise.

Eva was shoved into the front seat of her body; her eyes clearing back to hazel, but the black veins still pulsing.

She could see differently when the Blakkr let her take over. Loki looked more clear, he looked more... he looked tired. He looked relieved.

Eva went to step closer to the glass wall of the cell, but her entire body was frozen.

Loki must have known it was her though, because his eyes softened the moment she blinked her own open.

And finally, with understanding the truth, and the severity of the man infront of her, Eva called, "Father."

He stepped forward. Eva could tell his was trying to say something with his eyes, but she was too tired, too preoccupied to understand. "Be strong, Eva," he told her. "We will find our way. The rockiest paths lead to the glimmering waters."

Eva nodded, tears rushing to her eyes. Father, was all she could think. I'm sorry.

The Blakkr regained control. "Proverbs, Prince?"

Loki stepped back, his eyes flickering to the book in his hand. "Goodnight, Eva."

But her mind was rushing beyond sleep. She was tired, of course but his words... rockiest of paths? Glimmering waters? It sounded like... he knew what was going on. And it was then that Eva realized - Loki could see everything she was facing in her own mind. He saw all of it.

Of course he could! The man was a telepath for Odin's sake! Eva was a complete idiot to think anything less of the god of mischief.

So Loki could see everything that she was facing.

And he was helping her figure it out.
