EVA HAS NEVER KILLED ANYONE.
Okay, well, she did have like an entire childhood unaccounted for, but of what she could remember, Eva Lokisdittor has never, ever killed a person.
But she was getting pretty close.
She saw men, or boys, as equals. She always had. But right now, as they looked at her, superiority gleaming in their beady little eyes, she saw them as nothing more than little bugs to crush under her foot.
And she had the perfect bug-crushing boots on today.
(They were purple!)
"Eva," Dagny called from her side, but Eva didn't spare her a glance. Her hand was pressed firmly to the hilt of her sword that laid against her waist.
Loki had offered to come. To be the peacekeeper, he explained, but Eva couldn't help but think that the god of Mischief could never be a peacekeeper.
Besides, she needed to do this herself. If it took battling - not killing, Eva! - every single soul in this blasted village, Eva would do so. She would fight well into the night to prove her place.
"Oh Hel," Sif muttered from beside the young girl. "Stop looking like that."
Eva's head snapped over to Sif. "Like what?"
"Like you're about to commit a massacre," Sif said, and though Eva rolled her eyes, her face wavered a bit. "You'll just scare the girls away like that."
"The girls shouldn't be scared of me," Eva said, eyeing the sparse crowd of boys in the center of the village. "These little rodents, however, should be very scared."
"Aw, Princess, don't talk like that," a new voice joined in one that hadn't been on the walk from the village with them. "These will be the men of the army you'll command."
Eva didn't have to look behind to know the source.
"Fandral," she whined, "I hate to tell you, but this is a girl's trip."
He jogged, catching up to the girls and shooting a smile to Eva. "Don't want me in your little show? Afraid I'll outshine you?"
Eva's nose scrunched in slight agitation, but a humored smile played on her lips.
"Did Loki send you?" She guessed, squinting against the sun to make out the small town square in front of her.
"I invited him," Sif said, and Eva shot her a look of betrayal. "If I'm bringing the Loki incarnate to a demonstration," she said, and Eva rolled her eyes, "I'd rather like some back up if you attack the recruits."
Eva shrugged. "Not much good if they can't fight back, huh?"
"Harsh, Eva," Dagny muttered, and Eva shrugged again.
