OLIVER BASTINO HAD BEEN IN SHIELD CUSTODY FOR 164 DAYS.
And not one went by when he didn't think of the quick-witted, button-pushing Eva Lokison.
This was his fault - he knew it was. He dragged her into a world that she really didn't need to be involved in. And she had every right to turn him in. She just wanted some cash, not a history with one of the only living HYDRA experiment escapees.
Oliver knew he was selfish for pulling her in, but he'd been so lonely for so long that he felt he deserved to be a little selfish. It was nice to have someone rely on him. He wanted someone to need him.
But anything he wanted always came back to bite him in the ass.
So Eva was gone for a little under 164 days, and from the whispers, Oliver's been picking up from SHIELD agents Eva was a god? Or a demigod? She was definitely the kid of someone bad though, and through his fits of guilt, Oliver put the blame back on her. She was already as deep as him.
But that wasn't true, and Oliver knew it. When she got into his stash of drinks or got a little too tired, Eva would talk about how much she hated her dad. Or how she hated the fact that she couldn't hate him because she'd never met the guy before, and did he even know she existed?
Oliver Bastino didn't exactly have the cleanest records with dads, anyway, so he never over thought it. He's spent his entire life trying to avoid his own dad because the guy would definitely kill him when he got the chance.
And now, here he was, in the custody of the guys that had custody of his dad.
(At least the guy was oblivious, though. Apparently he couldn't remember shit, so, you know, thank you HYDRA.)
Oliver had given up fighting 160 days ago. Not that he was tired or anything, but he really didn't have anywhere to go. HYDRA was after him. SHEILD was after him. And honestly, the only way to be safe from the other was to be in some kind of custody.
He was still going through this interrogation thing. He didn't mind it all that much because they couldn't really torture him if they had shiny, righteous Captain America on their side.
And he was chill with it all, really. As long as his dad didn't show up, or that redhead that was probably his girlfriend, he was alright in custody.
That is until he two big guards showed up, trying to transfer him to a new cell.
"Why?" Oliver demanded, standing up as the two of them unlocked the cell with a flash of their badge.
Guard #1 shrugged as he reached forward, clasping cuffs on Oliver's wrists. "Apparently aliens are coming back," he said, half annoyed.
"Aliens?" Oliver repeated, only to be met with silence. "C'mon, guys - you're restraining me anyway."
The guys exchanged a look. They didn't look too smart, and that was somewhat reassuring to Oliver.
