"I'm going to the grill with Bonnie!" Elena said, grabbing her coat.
"Okay have fun- Wait! I got this. Don't stay out late, it's a school night." Jenna said proudly with he hands on her hips. Elena and I giggled.
"Well dome Aunt Jenna." Elena started walking to the door. "Oh! Nora! Do you wanna come?"
"Sure! But I told Charlie I'd meet him at the shed later, so I can't stay long. Lemme just get ready." I say, hopping off the couch.
She gives me a thumbs up. We hear a knock on the door. "I'll get that. You, get ready."
I walk up stairs to get ready as Elena answers the door. I decide to just put on the same thing I wore to school, since I had changed into sweatpants and a tank top once I got home earlier. When I walked downstairs and to the front door, Elena was once again acting boy crazy in front of the new guy. I grinned. Apparently she had invited him to the grill. I took that as my chance. I ran out the door past 'mr hottie' and to the car. "Shotgun!"
Elena and the new guy laughed at my antics and got into the car. I proudly sat shotgun as 'pretty boy' over there was stuck in the back. "So you're a freshman, right?"
"Yup." I answer. "And if you're trying to find a polite way to ask how I got into an 11th grade history class, don't sweat it. Long story short, I'm a huge history nerd." I explain. "Mostly weird stuff that they don't teach in school but it was enough to get me into an 11th grade class, so yeah."
"Oh cool... what kind of weird stuff?" He said in an odd tone.
"Stuff like the Donner Party, old murder cases, some more unknown facts about the Revolutionary War..." I say the next part in a low quiet voice. "The horrifyingly gruesome case of-"
"Okay, Nora, that's enough." Elena interrupted. "We don't wanna give Stefan nightmares."
Stefan laughs. I roll my eyes. "You only got nightmares that one time because you don't watch enough horror movies to be accustomed to the topic." I say. "You can't even sit through The Uninvited!"
"Excuse you!" Elena playfully fakes offense. "The Uninvited was horrifying!" Stefan laughs as we get out of the car and go into the Mystic Grill.
Once we walked into the grill, I could see Matt getting just a bit jealous of Stefan. I sighed to myself as he walked over to us. He went straight to Stefan in an attempt to be the polite and supportive ex. "Hey, I'm Matt."
"Stefan." Ooh. It seems like they're getting along just fine. I guess I underestimated Matt's maturity. They shook hands.
Matt turned to Elena. "Hey, Elena."
Once again, Elena put on a fake smile. I could tell she was a bit nervous about the situation and I mean I don't blame her. It was pretty awkward no matter how many fake smiles everyone put on. "Hey."
Matt waved and I decided to break the tension. "Hi Matt!"
"Hey, Nora! Congrats on getting into Mr. Tanner's history class!" He said, visibly thankful that I broke through the awkwardness.
"Thanks! I would be more excited about it if Mr. Tanner were less of a tight-ass." I say, rolling my eyes.
Matt laughs and suspiciously looks around. "Be careful... Tight-Ass Tanner has eyes and ears everywhere..." he whispers.
I laugh as he walks away. "Nora!!!"
I look to see Caroline running at me with a hug. I hug her back but after a few seconds I couldn't really breath. "Okay, Caroline. I'm tapping out."
"Are you okay?" Caroline asked.
"Yes I'm fine." I say. "Why does everyone keep asking me that?"
