I ran to the front door of the Lockwood Mansion, finding a pencil on the table in the grand entrance. A wood pencil. Only to possibly injure though. Next, I ran outside to the parking lot, thinking maybe Mr. Saltzman would be out here sneaking a secret bottle of booze like the one he keeps in his desk at school. There was no one out there though. Everyone was at Miss Mystic Falls. Well, almost everyone.

As soon as I heard footsteps, I ducked behind a car.

"Where are we going?" Amber asked.

"I don't know." I heard Stefan's voice and stood still, taking slow breaths.

"I'm in the ceremony."

"Not now you're not." Stefan said, pushing her against the car. "You're standing in the parking lot with me." He said slowly.

"I'm in the parking lot with you..." Amber repeated. I stifled a gasp. He was compelling her.

"I'm sorry..." Stefan said. "I'm sorry." He repeated. "I'm not very good to be around right now. I'm a little bit on edge. I've- I've been drinking the human stuff and it's really screwing with my head." I could hear him pace back and fourth. "Oh, she knows now." I'm assuming he meant Elena. "She wasn't supposed to find out. I didn't want her to find out, now everything's ruined."

"You seem sad." Was all Amber had to say, as if she wasn't just taken away from a beauty pageant to play therapist to an emotionally unstable vampire with an addiction problem.

Stefan let out a faint, sarcastic laugh. "I'm not sad! I'm freaking hungry!"

Amber's voice was quiet. "Well, there's a Wendy's two miles away-"

"Amber, you don't get it." Stefan seemed to be growing more nervous by the second. "I drink blood, okay? But I wish I didn't. I don't like to hurt people. I just- I don't hurt people. I don't do that, I'm the good brother."

"Do you want to hurt me?" Amber asked softly. She didn't seem to be afraid of what the answer would be, but I was. I was feeling all of the fear that Amber wasn't able to.

Suddenly, Stefan's voice became more clear. Less nervous rambling and more direct. "I want to kill you." He seemed especially calm. "I want to rip into your skin, and I want to feed on your blood."

I tuned out the rest of the conversation, if it could even be called that. What I do know is that Amber would not be walking away unscathed. By the time it was dark out, Stefan was having his second anxiety attack, Amber was trying to comfort him, and I was hiding behind a car, sitting on the cold pavement, barely ten feet away from the whole fiasco. My grip on the unsharpened wooden pencil was tighter than I knew possible.

"I can't do this!" He started pacing back and forth yet again.

"What's the matter?"

"I can't do this..."

"It's okay, it doesn't hurt that much. Just, not so hard next time." Oh, bless her heart.

"Oh god, oh god, oh god. I can't stop." He said. "Why aren't you afraid of me?"

"You told me not to be." Amber said as if it were the most obvious thing. Suddenly I'm wishing that I never followed Elena to Stefan's house that night to figure out the truth. I think bliss is better than this. Better than knowing that there person dating my older sister is capable of this.

"Listen to me, Amber..." Stefan's voice got louder as he spoke. "I need you to be afraid of me. Do you understand? I need you to run! Run! Now!"

As Amber finally ran for her life, I recalled a bit of my research and suddenly, an idea popped into my mind. Before he could chase after her, I stood up from behind the car. "Stefan!"

"Nora?! What are you doing? How long have you been there?" The sight was almost as bad as listening in. He had a crazed look in his eyes and blood still on his lips.

"Long enough." I dismissed, still holding onto the pencil. "Look, just don't run after her."

"Nora, I don't want you to get hurt, okay?"

"It's fine, the blood of a wraith is toxic to vampires." I said, my voice calm but my heart racing.

"What if you're wrong?" His eyes were wide and frightened. Though I think it was clear who was more scared of who. "What happens then?"

"I'm not." I stated firmly. "And if I am... I had a good run." I laughed to try and take the weight off of the situation, but it didn't do any good. "Just don't go after Amber..."

He looked at me, then looked at the woods where Amber ran. And then he made the wrong decision.

I let out a frustrated sigh and chased after him with my number two pencil in hand. From behind me, I heard Damon, Elena and Bonnie running as well. I ran back towards them. "Guys! Thank god!"

"Where's Stefan?" Elena asked frantically.

"He's after Amber! That way!" I pointed the direction that I was originally running.

When we caught up to Stefan, we could see that he had caught up to Amber, about to do much worse than before. "Stefan!" Damon yelled to get his attention. He was biting Amber's neck and when he pulled away, there were dark veins under his eyes, his chin was covered in blood, and his fangs were visible. I almost jumped back in surprise. "Come one. Get control of it. Come on." As Damon was attempting to calm Stefan down. That only made it worse. Stefan pushed him to the side, into a tree. He began walking towards us until he was bent over and clutching his head. I saw Bonnie looking extremely focused and realized it must've been a spell.

In the span of ten seconds I could see him return to sanity and run off just as quickly. The police were called. We were questioned. Bonnie and Elena went on to get into another argument, meanwhile Damon was talking to the Sheriff. I sighed and walked over to Carolin's mom. "Uh, Ms. Forbes? Is Amber gonna be okay?"

"She's lost a lot of blood, Nora." Sheriff Forbes said solemnly. "Were you two friends?"

"Uh, yeah. We used to study for geometry a lot together until-" I had to stop talking before I started crying. "I guess I'll just have to ask my brother for help now." I wiped a tear from my face with a wistful smile.

Damon was looking at the ground until now. "She's gonna be fine." He said. "Alright?" I nodded, looking down. "Go home. You're aunt's probably worried to death."

"Got it. See you around douche bag."

"Right back at you kid."

I'm 14 years old. I'm walking home alone at night. And I just witnessed the almost-murder of my friend from math class, committed by my friend from history class, and covered up by my kinda-sorta friend who keeps showing up in my sister's bedroom. It's probably not smart to walk through the  woods after all of that, but it's a short cut and I know it like the back of my hand.

About ten minutes in, I heard something. The sobbing of a teenage boy. I followed the noise through the trees until I eventually reached the shed. Charlie. I took out my phone and texted Aunt Jenna that I was at the shed then I knocked on the door. "Charlie? It's me." I couldn't hear what he said but it was something along the lines of 'come in'. I opened the door to see that his eyes were red and his face was wet with tears. I gasped and sat down next to him, putting my arms around him for a hug.

He flinched away from me. "No!"

"Charlie..." I dropped my hands to my lap. "What happened?"

"I-" His hands were also in his lap and he refused to look me in the eyes. "I did something really, really bad, Nora."
