I sat in the living room playing video games while Elena and Damon went to go save Stefan from whatever mess he got himself into. Jeremy was at the Grill with Anna, and Caroline was stuck on the road somewhere considering she left to drive to her dad's house earlier that day.

It was pretty late at night when Elena came home. I paused the game and turned around. "How's Stefan?"

"No longer in someone's basement being tortured, so that's something." She said, sitting down next to me.

I sighed. "I have a feeling there's something else..."

"Yeah," She said. "We we're running and he was hurt pretty badly and needed blood, so..."

"Oooh... well that's definitely an interesting step to take in a relationship." I said sarcastically.

"It's just that he seemed different afterwards." Elena said. "Like, one minute he was... violent. And the next he acted like everything was fine."

"Well, I guess you've just gotta believe him until you can't." I said. "But if you feel unsafe, you gotta do what you gotta do."

"That's actually good advice." Elena smiled.

"Hey, don't look so surprised. I can be good at relationships when I need to."

Suddenly, Elena's phone rang. She picked it up and answered it. "Hey, Jer- hey, what's wrong?" Her expression dropped. "Oh my god..."

Vicky Donovan was dead. Of course, I knew this all along but Matt didn't. His mom didn't. Jeremy didn't. But now they do. Caroline found her body when she was trying to get out of the rain. Or rather, she found Vicky's half rotted, unrecognizable corpse. Which seems a bit more scarring in my opinion.

We drove to Matt's house where everyone was gathered. As soon as Elena walked in, she ran to give Matt a hug. I found Jeremy sitting alone. "Hey." I said softly. "How are you doing?"

"I don't know." Jeremy said quietly.

I walked over and sat next to him, leaning my head on my older brother's shoulder. I could tell,  neither of us were in the hugging mood. Tyler Lockwood was there too. He and Jeremy shared a look that said something like 'I know I hate you and you hate me, but we both loved her.'

When we got home, Jeremy went straight to his room. Elena tried to console him but he just wanted to be alone. Elena sat at the bottom of the stairs with her head in her hands, while Jenna sulked in the kitchen. I went up to my room and crashed down on my bed.

I was so ready to go to sleep after this rollercoaster of a day. But instead of sleep, came nightmares. Are they really nightmares if I expect them by now though? The images of fire, blood, and death, and the ominous forest. This time, instead of seeing Grams, I heard her. Her whispers echoed through the trees, almost unrecognizable.

"Wraith..."

"What?"

"Wraith!"

I shot up in bed with beads of sweat all over my body. What the hell is a wraith?
