32. Hidden Feelings.

3 days until the masquerade ball.

• Lilac's POV •

All the girls at school went crazy over this masquerade ball. I had my mind set on going but having them constantly squeal made me have second thoughts. I didn't want to be a bloody bore i was excited for this ball, i just had a.. different way of showing it.

I made my way into the great hall for breakfast. I let out a sigh as i enter and see everyone trying on their masks. I walk over to the Gryffindor table where Cho was seated with the rest of the group.

"..can you believe it's in 3 days?" Cho squealed.

"Oh no." I gasped. "Not you too."

The group laughed.

"I happen to be excited for this ball! it's exciting and mysterious." Cho said.

"The mysterious part is the only reason why i'm going." I giggled.

"You're going?" George cleared his throat.

"I've thought about it, doesn't seem like a bad idea." I grinned.

"No, not a bad idea at all." Fred smirked at George. All of a sudden the whole group started smirking at George and I.

"Oh enough, we're just friends!" I shout.

George looked away.

"I'm gonna go. Bye." I say as i run out of the great hall immediately.

What the fuck just happened. I thought we were done with all this awkwardness within the group. I know it wasn't their fault, i'm the one that blurted that out but i wasn't thinking in the moment.

"Wait!" George shouted from behind me. "You can't keep doing this Lilac."

"Doing what!" I shout back.

He ran up-to me. "You can't avoid this forever."

"I'm not avoiding it."

"You ran out of there as soon as things got heated between us."

"I'm sorry." I breath heavily.

"Lilac, you can't keep doing this. Do you want to be just friends?" His hands started shaking slightly.

"We will never be 'just friends' you know that." I mumbled.

"You're giving off mixed signals. I can't pretend that i don't love you i refuse to do that Lilac, we've been through so much together."

"I'm not stable." I cried out.

"Is that what this is about? i want to help you through this but i can't do that with you constantly pushing me away."

"I'm not stable. I'll break your heart."

"Nothing can break my heart as much as seeing you with Miles."

I went silent for a moment. "Nothing can break my heart as much as seeing you with Maddison. That shit absolutely crushed me George." I started crying uncontrollably.

"I explained everything to you, that was out of my control. You got with Miles willingly." He said.

"Why does this have to be so difficult." I cried while i rubbed my head.

"It doesn't have to be that way." He softly grabbed my face. "Look at me Lilac."

"Why did this have to happen to us." I said through my tears.

"We can fix this now." He begged. "All you need to do is give me a chance."

I dug my head into his chest and cried my eyes out. After a few moments, he helped me calm down.
