27. HE WANTED TO KISS HER?

Anne awoke to sensation of the coach slowing down. She opened her eyes hesitantly and felt the rising sun shining brightly through the large windows and directly onto her face. She winced slightly before moving to sit up straighter.

"Sleepy head is finally awake!"

She froze. Turning she saw Gilbert Blythe smiling at her, his hair slightly ruffled from resting on the coach seats for hours.
His top was slightly scrunched on the shoulder nearest to her and with absolute horror she realised she must have fallen asleep on him. Why did he let her? Does he like her maybe?

No. She shook the stupid thought out of head.

She let out a yawn and stretched as much as possible in the confined space of the coach as Gilbert chuckled lightly.
Once she was focused again she looked at the screen of the laptop that was still open, Pride and Prejudice was still playing. She watched as Elizabeth roasted Mr Darcy at the ball, she laughed weakly.

"You fell asleep half way through the Jane Eyre, you looked all sleepy. It was cute." Gilbert winked as Anne's cheeks flushed lightly.

"Ugh why did you start Pride and Prejudice without me!" She complained.

"Well i was bored! you can't expect me to wait around all day." He laughed as she nudged him lightly in the arm.

"You should have woken me up you idiot!"

"But you looked so cute sleeping Shirley." The boy teased as his booped her nose with his finger. She grimaced but inside her stomach was doing flips.

"Well next time maybe i'll just make sure to drool on your shirt, then you might wake me up." She wiped her eyes of sleeping dust and checked her phone. 8:11am.
They should be arriving at the airport soon, since the flight is at 9:00am.

"You are always so delightful carrots."
She just stuck her tongue out in response.

Anne looked out the window to see the coach halted in traffic just on the outskirts of a city, they would be there soon. She was beyond excited to get on a plane, she had never been on one before had they seemed completely thrilling.

Anne hauled her suitcase along the floor of the airport and towards the large waiting area. Numerous students surrounded her, doing the exact same thing.

Diana led their group over to the largest group of seats and they flung themselves down.
They had just spent the last 20 minutes standing up and a huge queue to get their tickets and passport confirmed.

"How was sitting on the bus with Gilbert?" Diana whispered to Anne, her eyes glinting mischievously. Anne rolled her eyes as Ruby's attention snapped to her and Diana.

"Anne, you were so cute sleeping on Gilbert!" She practically squealed. Annes brows furrowed slightly, despite the fact Ruby's eye has been focused on Moody lately it was still surprising that she didn't care at all about the prospects of Anne and Gilbert liking each other.

"Uh, well i was tired, that's all.." She fiddled with the end of her plait, she didn't want all this attention.

"You guys do make a fetching couple." Jane piped in as she looked up from her phone, not feeling ashamed to admit she was eavesdropping.

Anne cringed at how openly they were speaking and was thankful Gilbert had his music plugged in and was reading a book in a seat just down from theirs.
