Anne could hardly bear the thought of going back into school the next day.

She had liked one of Gilbert's posts. And if that wasn't bad enough, it was his first Instagram post ever!
The mortification was just too much to handle.

She pulled herself off her bed with a sigh. She felt the anxiety growling in the pit of her stomach.

Oh Gilbert will probably go round spreading rumours about it and then Josie will hate her even more, she couldn't bear it.

She decided to go outside and read in her favourite tree. Perhaps the cool autumn air will be nice company.

She pulled on her black vans and shoved her phone into her pockets before sprinting down the staircase.

"And where do you think your going?" Marillas sharp voice came from the kitchen table, where she was rolling cookie dough.

"I'm just going out to read in my favourite tree, I need some fresh air." Anne held tightly onto the worn book of Jane Eyre that she was holding in her hands.

"Well make sure to be back for tea, it's at Six thirty!" She called as Anne slipped out the front door.

She ran down the green gables path, humming lightly to herself.

She waved at Jerry as he worked in the barn house.

soon she arrived at her tree. she clambered up in delight as leant against its trunk, book in hand, feeling remarkably at peace. all the events of the previous hour seemed insignificant to right in that moment.

suddenly "Anne Shirley Cuthbert, fancy seeing you here my little fan."

Anne jumped and let out a scream out of fear she was going to fall out if the huge tree.

"GILBERT BLYTHE it is rude to sneak up on people!!!!"

"it was unintentional, i promise!" he winked cheekily at her. "anyway how are you my fan!!"

"fan?! i'm sorry but i don't know what you mean." Anne facaded innocence regarding the affair.

"i don't think you liking my first ever instagram EVER isn't a hint that you're my biggest fan."

"oh shut up Blythe. if you're just hear to tease me then you can bugger off." Anne returned her eyes back to her book as she felt his eyes on her.

suddenly she felt his presence right beside her and glanced to see him gazing at her with even more intensity."

"you're so strange Blythe." Anne giggled merrily.

"and you're an enigma Cuthbert." he grinned back, his eyes shimmering at the sight of her beauty.
