29. Welcome to New York

Gilbert looked so beautiful whilst he slept. The sun shined through the small airplane window and rested on his face, lighting up small freckles that rested on his nose.

Anne couldn't believe someone was that pretty, now she understands what all his fan girls see.

Anne shook her head, snapping out of the trance he put her in. Why now was she having such a crisis over her feelings for Gilbert, especially in a confined plane of all places. The inconvenience of it all felt like a huge joke the universe was playing on her.

She sighed slowly, trying to clear her head as she put her earphones back in and continuing to listen to fake love by BTS which was her current fave song.

"Welcome to New York." Ms Stacy spread her arms out and gestured to the city in front of them. The class squealed and chatted in excitement; but Anne was struck to silence.

They had finally landed and were on the coach driving to the hotel. Anne and Gilbert had started speaking normally again (after whatever happened at the airport- Anne still didn't know what to call it.) and they were sat together on the coach pointing out building and funny signs. Diana and Ruby kept squealing and Anne was tempted to boot them off the bus but she was too busy being excited too.

When they arrived at the hotel the teachers assigned everyone their room keys and gave the classic field trip speech about 'being on your best behaviour' and 'representing the school well' and all that other stuff- Anne daydreamed through it all.

"Cmon let's go find our rooms!!" Jane squealed as the class was dismissed to go to their rooms and the whole friendship group dragged their suitcases towards the elevator. If anyone thinks Anne's gonna lob her suitcase up the stairs they've got another thing coming.

"Red lights, stop signs i still see your face in the-"

"Omg can you stop i'm actually gonna lose it." Josie exclaimed as she glared at Ruby who halted her light singing. She smiled meekly as Josie fumed.
Ruby had apparently been listening to Olivia Rodrigo the whole five hour flight and wouldn't stop singing the songs to Josie who was over it.

"I'm sorry but Olivia Rodrigos an icon!" Ruby huffed as the group squeezed themselves into the oddly large elevator.

"She is but by repeating her music you're gonna make me go insane." Josie responded in annoyance.

"Gotta agree with Josie on this one Rubes, your almost as bad as Anne and kpop. Remember when she wouldn't stop listening to blue hour by Tomorrow x Together for like a whole month?" Diana butted in.

"Hey!! I didn't ask for this attack!" Anne nudged Diana with an elbow as the gang other laughed.

"Oh and remember when Anne spent the whole of sophomore year obsessed with Kim Taehyung from BTS, that was intense." Tilly joined in.

Anne flushed, she still was obsessed with him but she wasn't gonna tell them that.

"I can't even blame her for that, he's hot- they all are to be honest." Cole chimed in as he fake fanned himself with his hand.

"Anne was listening to BTS on the flight overhear too, i saw it on her phone." Gilbert smirked down at Anne. She was currently being @'d by her friends harder then her tiktok for you page. That was getting wayyy to specific lately.
