Avonlea bathroom
8:40 am

Anne splashed the cool water over her face- wiping off the residue of sweat as she tried to recap the past events.
She was snapped out of her thoughts by the door of the bathroom creaking open and Diana, Tilly, Ruby and Josie storming in.

Something was wrong. Ruby's head was buried into Josies top, Tillie looked fed up and Diana had the look of guilt adorning her precious face.
Ruby sniffled as she turned to face Anne- her cheeks and eyes bore a bright red look, as if she was suffering from a terrible cold. Tear droplets scattered amongst her pale cheeks and blobs of mascara melted into the corners of her eyes.
She was crying.

"Rubes whats wrong?" Anne immediately asked, taking a step towards the girls who all but Diana took a step back.

"What were you doing with Gilbert Blythe." Josie said in a stone cold mannerism- avoiding Anne's previous question.

"He basically harassed me on the way to school then he nearly got trampled in a stampede so helped him out. Although I was debating leaving him for those ravenously hungry teenage girls to get their hands over but I thought he looked a bit scared so I sadly decided to rescue him. It was all quite a travesty if I'm too be honest." Anne explained quickly as the girls eyes bore into her.

There was silence. It was broken with Josie giving a scoff.
"And we're meant to believe the Gilbert Blythe. THE Gilbert Blythe harassed you. YOU, the ugly orphan. Anne your imagination really does astound me." Josie laughed.

"Josie.." Diana begun but was cut short by Josie giving her a gut wrenching glare. She took a step back- her head hung in shame.

"Well I suppose he only harassed me to make sure I was feeling okay. Billy he-," Anne this time was cut short by a shrill laughter.

"Billy? Billy Andrews? My boyfriend Billy Andrews, how dare you bring him into your exuberant lies." Josie yelled.

"But they're not lies Josie!" Anne retorted.

"Oh please." Josie rolled her eyes.

"You can't talk to Gilbert Blythe!" Tilly chimed in, "You can't even look at him! See for yourself.." she gestured to a tear stained sniffling Ruby.

"Ruby has liked him since nursery- she has dibs!" Josie informed a confused Anne.

"Dibs? How can you dibs a person...?" Anne questioned.

"Are you saying your going to break girl code ANNE." Josie glared at her as a warning. "There there Ruby.." she rubbed Ruby's back lightly as she sniffled.

"I'm so sorry...it didn't mean for all that to happen it just did..." Anne felt guilty, more than guilty for causing poor Ruby's tears.

"Well dOnt let it happen again." Josie threatened as Ruby started to calm.

"I won't, I promise. I'll have nothing to do with him." Anne sweared as she hugged Ruby tightly, who just smiled and nodded lightly whilst wiping her eyes.

"Good." Josie said, looking proud of herself. Before walking out of the bathroom with Tilly and Ruby.

Diana shrugged at Anne. "Girls.." she chuckled before walking to class leaving Anne alone.

Anne collapsed to the floor and wept.
